Leaders have a significant role in society as a whole, they serve as symbols that have a connection to you one way or another. They can lead, teach, mentor and conceive goals that can motivate people out of situations that may be looking like an impossible endeavor possible. Then some leaders serve as more of a teacher for someone who you can learn from an gain many experiences through info sharing that may be important or not but may be done the road. Other leaders serve as Mentor/Idols they are someone who you wish to be like or be better than and they wish the same by giving you all the advice that they can to set you up for success as a future leader. Leaders have a huge impact on society, by affecting everyone’s motivation, teaching and learning as well as mentoring into that leadership position.

Leaders, who motivate have great affect on people’s attitude. A good example of this is when no one thought that a man on the moon was possible the leaders at NASA decided to work on the goal being called impossible and making it possible through hard work and leadership on July 21, 1969 the first people from earth landed on the moon all because the leader had amazing leadership skills kept everyone motivated throughout the whole project. That shows you the power a leader can have on your want and drive just by keeping everyone motivated.

Also, leaders teach in many different ways but the end result is for you to learn and retain helpful information. Leaders teach you to have tools in your toolbox as if you where a craftsman so that your tools can be used for solving your problem so that you may be successful down the road and build that lovely skyscraper just from your toolbox alone. Therefore always take as many tools as possible with you so you can use them when you need them.

Finally, leaders can also be at a deeper level of involvement for...

Introduction to Leadership

... MODULE TITLE: Introduction to Leadership This report will look at the role of a team leader from within a public sector organization (PSO) and the part they play in motivating individuals to achieve PSO’s goals. Whilst examining the role of the team leader the report will provide evidence, for and against, the leadership style or styles of PSO and the effect that has on individual behaviours. The report will also pick apart and examine some of the components that influence the styles of leadership adopted within PSO. Furthermore, the report will identify some advantages and disadvantages by reviewing how WMP develops and identifies leaders and how it ensures a suitable supply of leaders for the future. It makes sense to start by defining leadership, Stogdill (1974) stated in his research into leadership that there are more or less as many contrasting definitions of leadership as there are people who have attempted to define the term of leadership. Suggesting there are many meanings for leadership and many interpretations of it. Crainer (1995) makes mention of over 400 different meanings of leadership. If you take, it’s meaning from the Oxford Dictionary (2015) it means “the action of leading a group of people or an organisation, or the ability to do this.” This would suggest that, to have leadership you also need a......

‘M&as: Why Don’t People Ever Learn from the Mistakes of Others? by William Richards Introduction over the Years, Mergers and Acquisitions Research Has Identified the Importance of Leadership and Workplace Learning as

...Richards Introduction Over the years, mergers and acquisitions research has identified the importance of leadership and workplace learning as critical determinants of M&A activities and outcomes. However, surprisingly little systematic attention has been paid to conceptualising or studying the impact and effect of either leadership styles or learning on the success of M&As – either in the academic or in the practitioner literature (Cartwright and Cooper, 2001) Although scholars and practitioners recognise that acquisitions frequently fail to live up to their potential (Larsson and Finkelstein, 1999), the impact of leadership on the outcomes of the acquisition process and the learning that takes place, has not been well developed or even widely recognised. A review of scholarly and practitioner focused writing on M&As suggest that while much has been written on the actual M&A process, others have only occasionally noted the critical importance of leadership and learning in the success or failure of M&As. Even in those cases where the leadership impact has been acknowledged, past work on M&As has neither examined nor proposed any details concerning what constitutes what learning that actually takes place during M&A or how it makes a difference. A review of academic and practitioner literature on M&A reveals that discussion of the primary determinants of M&A process and outcomes rarely ever mention the workplace learning that takes place nor the leadership necessary......

Dyadic Leadership Approach

...Dyadic Leadership Approach Amanda B. Donner LDR/531 August 27, 2012 Dennis Gribenas, PhD Dyadic Leadership Approach The dyadic leadership approach is one in which the linear relationship between a leader and one other individual that is to be led, is studied. The definition of the leader in terms of this approach is discussed with regard to how the leader is able to affect the desired behavior in the one that he is leading with regard to accomplishing specific tasks (Yukl, Chapter 1: Introduction: The Nature of Leadership,  2010). According to Yukl (2010) the dyadic leadership approach usually focuses on the “leadership behavior as the source of influence, and on changes in the attitudes, motivation, and behavior of an individual subordinate as the influence process” (Chapter 1: Introduction: The Nature of Leadership,  2010). Strengths of the Dyadic Approach The dyadic leadership approach assumes that the relationship between the leader and the subordinate is singular in nature and is a relationship that evolves over time from a basic or casual relationship to that of a mutual trust in order to accomplished mutual goals (Yukl, Chapter 1: Introduction: The Nature of Leadership,  2010). In this way the leader has a direct influence over the behavior and attitude of a singular subordinate without outside interference. The dyadic leadership approach can also be used to study a group dynamic but in a limited way assuming that all of the subordinates have similar job......

My main academic work has been research in the area of business ethics and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Based on my research I have written around a hundred publications, of which about fifty can be seen as scientifically significant, in one way or another. I started as a business leadership major at the University of Jyväskylä in 1977. General studies sparked my interest in philosophy, and in time I became more and more interested in it. I graduated as a Master of Economics in 1982, at which point I had already done Advanced studies in Philosophy. Nevertheless, I did my postgraduate studies in economics and began to study corporate societal responsibility in 1983. At the same time I continued my studies in philosophy and graduated as a M.Sc (Philosophy) in 1986, the same year when I finished my licentiate’s work on societal responsibility for the Business Studies program in the University of Jyväskylä (Ph.D in Economics 1991). The term “leadership” however, dates back as early as the Egyptians and Roman Greeks. “Throughout history, leadership has been defined by specific attributes that a leader is thought to have. There is not a right or wrong definition of leadership, but it is important to know the roots and history behind the term” (Coburn, 2008).
