Based on Figure 1, answer the following questions.

(i) Identify the functional groups represented by C, D and E respectively. (3 marks)

(ii) Given two carbohydrates molecules I and II, where by carbohydrate I contains chemical group A and carbohydrate II contains chemical group B, state ONE (1) possible carbohydrate for each carbohydrate molecule I and II. (2 marks)

(iii) Briefly explain how functional groups may affect the functions of biological molecules. (2 marks)
