The Birth Of Israel

After reading chapter 4 and watching The Birth of Israel documentary, I believe nationalism played a big part in the conflict. Nationalism is an attitude inside the members of a nation, it makes them believe that all other nations are inferior to them and what they believe in. Some would say its pride, but I believe nationalism goes further than pride. After reading the arthur's definition of nationalism, I come to believe that most of the wars and conflicts could have been avoided without nationalism if we all see each other as one and not separate entities. Nationalism played a major part in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. If the Arabs would have agreed to the first peace treaty in1947 which split the land down 50/50, then this conflict would have not been so catastrophic. I understand to a degree why they would reject the offer being as though the Jews would have received 50% of the land and they only made up 10% of the population. I believe the Arabs, knowing the situation that the Jews just left from, should have been more optimistic to the Jews coming. The Arabs displayed strong nationalism by not willing to put their pride aside and help another ethnic group that needed it. This conflict became an international interest because of the violence and the religious cites that hold important historic value. The United States interring into this conflict also helped made this an international interest. The U.S. entered this conflict and took sides with our future allies, Israel. I believe we only took the side of the Jews because they could help us economically. The U.S. Later would go on to be one of the leading nations to help assist, and encourage cease-fire accords amongst Israel and Palestine. I did not agree with the United States involvement in the conflict at first, until they stop trying to take sides and tried to help resolve the matter. Its no honor in only helping countries and people when we benefit from it finically and economically. We should help people off of our morals and beliefs.

The Middle East Conflict

...between those who look to the future and those who cling to the past; between those who open their arms and those who are determined to clench their fists (William J. Clinton, 2013). Even though people who live in Palestine/Turkey/Syria area between1988 - 2013 have been in a state of war, peace will soon come. The Middle East is at constant war, peace will not come soon enough if rules don’t apply to self-government. In the 1800’s Europe wanted to colonize Palestine land know as Zionists. The majority of the population was Jewish, which they wanted to create a Jewish homeland. This did not create a conflict until more Zionist immigrants population increased and talks of them taking over the Jewish land. The conflict in Palestine grew when Germany leader Adolf Hitler combined with Zionist engagements to disrupt efforts to reside Jewish refugees in western countries. The Zionists armies outnumbered the Arab and the Palestine army combined, and they fought on Palestine land. At the end of the war, Israel had taken over seventy-eight percent of the Palestine’s land; this is what has led up to the current conflict today. Muslims and Christians are unable to return to their home which is now a Jewish State. In November 1988 the National Council of Palestine declared Palestine as a state. The formal beginning of the peace process started to unite the Arabs and Israel this process was called the Oslo Accords or the Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements. The...

...LIBERTY UNIVERSITY INTERTESTAMENT PERIOD PAPER A RESEARCH PAPER SUBMITTED TO DR. BOB KENDALL FOR NEW TESTAMENT INTRODUCTION IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE MASTERS OF PASTORAL COUNSELING DEGREE IN THE LIBERTY UNIVERSITY SEMINARY BY JASON MOORE OMAHA, NE OCTOBER 2013 CONTENTS INTRODUCTION………………………………………………………………………………1 SILENCE WITHOUT SILENCE...……………………………………………………………..2 SUMMARY………………………………………………………………………………….….7 iii INTRODUCTION For many people the transition from the Old Testament to the New Testament is strange and considerably confusing. Without knowing what took place in the “silent years”, it very well can be a difficult task to make the leap from the Old Testament to the New Testament. The Old Testament world looks and sounds completely different from the world the New Testament describes, however, the same spirit inspired the writings of both canons. It must be known to the reader that the Old and New Testaments complement each other. In order to get the full understanding and the entire picture of God’s Word, you must understand them together. But, in order to understand them together, there is the time period of 400 years that are not included. This 400 year time frame plays a huge part in understanding how the two different worlds of the Old and New Testaments come together to make a comprehensive story. The “Intertestamental Period” is a short amount of time in relativity to the rest of Biblical history, but this short time frame...
