1. Although the behavior of Robinson's male coworkers is morally objectionable, should management attempt to prevent it? Do you accept the claim that the workers have a right to post pictures in the workplace? Is this a personal problem that workers should handle among themselves?
JSI’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy states, “…we should all be sensitive to the kind of conduct which is personally offensive to others. Abusing the dignity of anyone through ethnic, sexist, or racist slurs, suggestive remarks, physical advances or intimidation, sexual or otherwise, is not the kind of conduct that can be tolerated” (Boatright, 2009, p. 198). I do not accept the claim that the workers have a right to post pictures in the workplace. Just because they are not offensive to them [the workers] does not mean it is not offensive to anyone else. If they cannot put up political pictures in fear of offending someone of a different political ideology, then putting up nude pictures should be unacceptable as well. I do not think that this is a personal problem that the workers should handle among themselves, for the simple fact that there are not many other female welders besides Ms. Robinson and if the others opinions outweigh hers they are back to where they started.

2. Title VII does not mention sexual harassment but merely prohibits sex discrimination. Was the treatment of Lois Robinson a form of sex discrimination? Suppose the managers of Jacksonville Shipyards admit that her treatment was morally wrong but deny that they or her male coworkers did anything illegal. Would you agree?
I do think that the treatment of Lois Robinson was a form of sex discrimination. The instance where she went into a trailer to check on paperwork and saw a sign

The employee should never have to handle an issue as this when management approves material that is offensive to others. The work place should not be a place that employees dread attending, and Robinson’s experience was full of distress so management should have helped make her feel comfortable at work.
