They were very cautious with the actions they made to prepare for their venture. They were always getting a bundle of settlers. It added to help Massachusetts replenish supplies and expand the colony. In the Northeast the soil wasn’t pleasant to farming, so Massachusetts Bay made the most from their resources with the forest and water by establishing mills for grain and lumber, developing a fishing industry the local timber for shipbuilding, and harbors to promote trade. With all of these multiple resources, the bay colony was becoming the largest and most successful in the New England colonies. Overall the several communities in the bay colony, Boston became the capital. For many years Massachusetts bay charter was used as a constitution for the company. In the bay company government power rested within the general court. Who then elected the governor and his assistants. The basic religious and governmental ideas and practices of the Massachusetts Bay were run by non-separatist puritans who had a covenant with god to build a holy society that would be an image for humankind. The government enforced religious rules like; only visible saints could be in the church, committed to work and to engage in worldly pursuits.
