After watching the video of the 1905 treaty, I realise the mistreatment of Indigenous people is really not that far into our history. The idea behind the treaty was to improve conditions for Aboriginal people but it had the opposite affect (ilecture video ref) and was seen by Indigenous people as giving the government absolute power over their lives. It upsets me that the people who are effectively my ancestors, thought it was acceptable to treat Indigenous people in this way. Indigenous parents and carers today may have some reservations about trusting our government due to the mistreatment of their ancestors. As mentioned in the “Jandamarra’s war” video(ref), the Bunuba people still feel pain for what happened all those years ago. I
