JEE Main Normalising Process For Class XII Marks
All the students who are appeared in the JEE Main 2013 are hereby informed that the results was announced yesterday. These results are used to decide the eligibility of a student to appear in JEE (Advanced). All the students who wrote the JEE Main 2013 can check its merit calculation details here.
The officials announced that JEE Advanced will be held on June 2. Final merit list for JEE Mains will be published in July after results of all 29 school boards, including the CBSE, are declared. From this year, all technical institutions, except IITs, will give weightage of 60 pc to JEE Mains scores and 40 pc to school marks for preparing merit of all 12,00,000 JEE Main candidates.
Merit Calculation Process : Step 1: Suppose you score 310 out of 360 in JEE Mains and your percentile is 90. Your JEE Mains contribution to aggregate score will be 310 multiplied by 0.6 (60 pc) equals 186
Step 2: Suppose your school board score is 620 out of 1000 in West Bengal Board. These marks will be converted into percentile which is say 74. Step 3: JEE Main score list will be scanned to see what marks correspond to 74 percentile you got in school. Suppose those marks are 265. These will be multiplied by 0.2 (half of 40 pc weightage) to yield 53 marks Step 4: Computer will again use your school percentile to see how many are representative of that percentile in JEE Mains score list but this time it will only see marks for 74 percentile attained by JEE Main candidates from West Bengal. Suppose that score is 200. This will be multiplied with 0.2 (remaining weightage for 40 pc school marks) to yield 40 marks.
Step 5: Marks from Step 1, 3 and 4 will be added to calculate aggregate score. JEE merit list will thus be prepared.
Step 6: Three tables will help in calculations – marks to percentile table for each of 29 boards; Marks to percentile table for JEE scores; marks to percentile table for JEE scorers from each of the 29 boards

JEE Main 2013 Normalization Of XII Marks For Merit List
All the students who are appeared in the JEE Main 2013 are hereby informed that the results was announced yesterday. These results are used to decide the eligibility of a student to appear in JEE (Advanced). All the students who wrote the JEE Main 2013 can check its merit list details here.
JEE Main 2013 Merit List :
The JEE Main 2013 results is used to determine the rank of students in the merit list. The merit list for admissions to NITs and many other engineering colleges is based on the following 3 factors.
1)0.6 multiplied by the marks obtained in JEE (Main)
2)20% weightage of the percentile of a student calculated from his XII Board marks
3) 20% weightage of the percentile of a student calculated among the candidates who appeared in JEE (Main) 2013 from the Board of the candidate.
A percentile score simply gives the position of a candidate among all the students who appeared in the examination. For example, 90 percentile means that 90% of the students are placed below him, or alternatively 100-90 = 10% students are above him.
The following Table helps the students to calculate the final score of the JEE Main 2013: | XII Marks & Percentile | | Marks in JEE (Main) (X) | Weight(Y) | Weighted sumX * Y | JEE Score | | | 200 | 0.6 | 120 | XII Result (based on 5 subjects) | Marks 400 Percentile 90 | Look at 90 percentile of JEE Total List, say 240 | 240 | 0.2 | 48 | Contribution from JEE of the same Board | – | Look at 90 percentile of JEE Board-wise list, say 180 | 180 | 0.2 | 36 | TOTAL | 204 |

CRITICAL ANALYSIS STATEMENT The following is a collection of the different aspects towards education explored in the course Education and Self, instructed by Dr. Tejinder Walia and Dr. Soma Paul for the spring semester 2013 at IIIT Hyderabad. Apart from the normal classes we had many field visits and guest lectures, by eminent people who were champions of practicing their own alternative path to education in different parts of the country. We met Partho Sanyal – Sri Aurobindo’s school of thought, Ravindra Sharma – Adilabad Kala Ashram, Rajesh Dalal – following J Krishnamurthi’s philosophy, Swami Bodhomayananda – Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, Ramakrishna Math, Pawan Gupta –SIDH. All introduced their approach to education and also discussed some key issues which Education and society is facing presently. In our limited interactions we succeeded in learning the crux of all of these philosophies towards education. This was enabled by lengthy discussions in class on what our frame of mind and what kind of questions need to be asked in such lectures. Follow up of all interactions was done and this helped make the topics come alive for us. Education is not just a...

Having represented India at the International Mathematical Olympiads on two occasions, I have been exposed to elements of Discrete Mathematics, particularly Combinatory and Graph Theory, outside the regular school curriculum at an early stage. The intensive training programs we were put through for the Olympiads have given me a lot of confidence in dealing with abstract mathematical problems. Steel Industry Report

...Introduction to the industry Metals have accompanied mankind since ancient ages, and steel, if we begin to follow it from the moment of its historically famed damascene form - for some millennia.  From the era of craftsman-like small-scale production to today's form of industrial mass production, steel has covered an intricate path lined with significant innovations in production processes, development of range and quality of products, and perpetually growing productivity of labour, improving economies and ecological load. In addition, a radical change in relationship to the customers is occuring at the end of this century, namely by a pronounced shift of readiness towards the needs and requirements of these customers.  Steel's indisputable significance is confirmed by the fact that it has become the second most mass-produced commodity after cement production, attaining the world-wide production volume of approx. 750 mil tons yearly. The art of iron production from ore arose in connection with the practices of copper and lead technologies in Anatolya, in northern Syria and possibly also in part of Iran. Iron ores were added as fluxes for treatment of sulphide copper ores. Iron drops, which the local manufacturers identified already 3000 years BC, comparing these with meteoritic iron, already hinted at the existence of the possibility of producing iron, but this only occurred practically 15 centuries later. Since that time, it is necessary to reckon that only small amounts of this...
