Dervish is unlike any work of art that I have ever seen. When I first thumbed through the pages of my textbook, the picture of Dervish on page 114 quickly caught my eye. The piece, created by Jennifer Steinkamp, is a digitally animated images of trees projected onto black walls. The contrast between the brilliant, colorful trees and the black background create a very stunning image. I can only imagine how much more impressive this work of art looks in person. I’m sure that when spectators walk into the dark room, they are entranced as they watch the vibrant trees bloom before their very eyes. A piece like this would make a wonderful memorial.
