I believe Dr. Jill Stein (the Green Party’s presidential nominee) is a true leader. She practices what she preaches.

Ethics, distinguishing right from wrong, Jill Stein has it. The first thing that stands out to me about Jill Stein’s ethics would be the fact that she refused to be funded by corporate money. In July of this year she stated “We need real public servants who listen to the people, not to the corporate lobbyists that funnel campaign checks into the big war chests, that's what brought me to the Green Party, the only national party that is not bought and paid for by corporate money." She supports environmentalism, non-violence, social justice and grassroots organizing (bringing things from the community level.) One of her main goals is called the Green New Deal and it kills two birds with one stone; creating jobs in renewable energy, it not only would reduce unemployment but also will help the climate and eventually peoples health.

Self-Competency: Jill graduated from medical school and worked with adults and young people, eventually she realized she couldn’t do both this and politics. She says what she is doing now is “political medicine.” She says they have to heal the politics in order to achieve health in all other aspects of society.

Diversity Competency: Jill Stein is actually the first Jewish woman presidential candidate. She stands for rights of the disabled, rights of all individuals to choose their intimate partners, religious freedom, etc.

Across cultures competency: This may be a far fetch, but I think based on the words in the book “think globally, act locally” Jill embraces the across cultures competency. I’m going to go into immigration here, Stein says if she were president she would aim to create a legal and welcoming path to citizenship. She would also try to fix the problem by negotiating NAFTA (a free trade agreement) to a fair trade agreement. She sees immigration rights as human rights.

Communication Competency: Jill has done protests, news castings, interviews you name it, this one is a given. She’s very clear and doesn’t beat around the bush. People know what she thinks and believes. On top of it she backs her ideas and beliefs up and doesn’t jump into generalizations or judgments.

Teams Competency: I think this one is a given, she won the nomination for being the green party candidate, she clearly demonstrates the ability to pursued and lead others with clear and logical goals in mind. The thing about Stein is she would listen to the people…obviously her belief in grass roots organizing is proof of this.

Change Competency: CLEARLY America needs change, Stein is all about change. She wants to better America, for the people, not for greed and she has the ideas to make it happens. Stein launched her campaign by saying, “We are all realizing that we, the people, have to take charge because the political parties that are serving the top 1 percent are not going to solve the problems that the rest of us face, we need people in Washington who will refuse to be bought by lobbyists and for whom change is not just a slogan."
