The details and events in the story are written in a way that express stereotyping and discrimination. Although the author is extremely biased throughout the story, it is considered his best piece of literature. This story is about a world renowned hunter, Sanger Rainsford, who is sailing to Brazil to hunt jaguars. As his ship passes Ship Trap Island, he accidently falls overboard and manages to swims ashore. There he discovers a mansion occupied by a Russian Cossack General Zaroff and his deaf mute servant Ivan. The General, an excellent hunter himself, has become bored of hunting animals so he lures ships to his island and captures and hunts the sailors for his entertainment. When Rainsford refuses to join in hunting other humans, he becomes one of the hunted. He is given three days to try to elude capture from the General, Ivan, and his hounds. After the three days have passed and he has outsmarted the General and avoided being captured, the general honors him and presumably lets him go. First, the author discreetly displays his prejudice views, by establishing the main characters as white men, wealthy, fit, and healthy.
