Outsourcing began in the 1980’s. There are many disadvantages for offshoring jobs to India. There are worries about sending confidential information somewhere which is miles away and not really knowing how they deal with customer’s sensitive information that can lead to identity theft and many other harmful things.
The major outsourcing job I researched is the call center industry. They have hundreds of different call centers in India. Most companies operate at night. They take hundreds of calls on a daily basis. They have daily recruiting sessions to hire people to work in the call center. Over 700 people stand in lines and apply daily to get picked for a customer service position. Out of the 700 applicants they only pick about 6% of them to have a position. The call centers in India offer classes for people to learn how to talk without the accent. They teach them the American lingo and some of them even use an American name to try to fit in when taking calls. The make about $1000 dollars a month in American dollars. Working at the call centers you must be able to handle high call volumes, angry customers, and be able to solve minor to sever problems. globalzilation I think the main negative point for India is that the young generation of people are losing the essence of their culture. They have become more materialistic and they are now aware of the brands and fashion that they wear today. They have changed the way they dress to mimic what Americans wear. So the traditional India society has changed drastically. The cultural ways has changed which the older generation is not in agreement with. Usually there tradition gets married early and the women does not work. They had to have permission to work out of the home. The older generation is worried that by the Americans bringing jobs to India that there culture will die due to all the changes that are taken place now. They feel like some things are meant to be keep behind doors because in their tradition more clothing is the way to go. But trying to keep up with fashion that they see on television on the internet are very skimpy. The traditional quality of life is fading away from the society.
The rising cost of salaries in India because there is a greater demand for call center workers, and the cost to ship product back to America has made some companies resource their companies back to America.
There are many negative things that has affected the Americans by outsourcing jobs to India. When you outsource jobs American livelihoods are at risk. This puts families in jeopardy because they are not able to take care of their family financial responsibilities. It makes employees get nervous about their employers possibility to outsourcing their jobs in hopes of making a profit. I think it shows disloyalty from the employers to outsource jobs instead of finding solutions to solve issues by agreeing to leave companies in America. When you pick a company to handle a job there main goal is to make a profit for providing services to you even though they might not have the same value as your company. There are many hidden cost that you may be responsible for and you have to hire an attorney to review the contracts before you are able to come to an agreement with the offshoring business. It is a risk when you have to transmit personal information to the company that may pose a risk for identity theft so you have to know the companies polices when it comes to protecting valuable information. Another disadvantage is you may have quality problems and have to pay extra to make changes. Also when dealing with an offshoring company you have to be aware that the company might run into problems and become bankrupt and you will have to assume all responsibilities that are left untouched.

After controlling for individual heterogeneity biases, it is shown that relatively ‘small’ bonuses exert a significant negative effect on worker satisfaction. In contrast, job utility is found to rise only in response to ‘large’ bonus payments, primarily in skilled, non-unionized private sector jobs.
