The ethics case of Johnny Fuller is a simulation of a business dilemma that we, through the different concepts learned in Accounting, can analyze and criticize inappropriate behavior and decision making.
To recall, the case was about Johnny Fuller paying his full-time employees in cheque, while he paid his part-time employees with cash directly taken from the cash register. Aside from which, albeit Mary Lake, Johnny’s public accountant, urging Johnny to pay all employees by cheque, Johnny himself still would not consent with her suggestion. From this case, we can clearly analyze and criticize the responsibilities of the stakeholder, the public accountant, as well as correct erroneous decisions through various concepts learned in Accounting. Johnny Fuller is the owner and the manager of Johnny’s Restaurant, making him the stakeholder of the enterprise. As a stakeholder, he is expected to be transparent, accountable, and responsible; however, the case portrays how he does not meet these expectations through his decisions. In fact, he went against the concept of adequate disclosure as he inappropriately paid his part-time workers with money directly taken from the cash registrar. Remember that all business transactions must be adequately supported by information recorded properly. Continuing, first reason why he went against the concept of adequate disclosure: the transaction behind taking money from the registrar and handing it to employees does not appear in the Financial Statements, thus making his transactions illegitimate. The ethical way of going about this is simply not taking money from the cash registrar, but instead, issue cheques for salaries, and then faithfully record these in the statements. In short, one must properly record all business transactions made in the enterprise. Second reason why this decision is unethical and unlawful is that all

...Dancing is always interesting me that I want to try and learn one time in my life. It is an art that most of people want to discover and experience. I used to try some kind of dance like aerobic, or zumba. However, this was the first time I tried in modern dance that gave me strong expression. I have done the first modern dance class in my life. During the class, I have seen some changes in my body. They are just small changes, but I can fell it. I still remembered the first days of class; I felt down a lot because I could not flexible with the directions. I just kept in mind that I had to turn right to the left or to the right. It made my steps hard and not flexible. However, now I realized that I just needed to let my body move the way it wants to. I should not care a lot about moving right or wrong. As well as so, I feel my body is more flexible and dynamic now. Every part in my body can move almost exactly the way I want them to be like leg, foot, arm, belly, etc. Especially, I really loved the way the professor let us have free dance between the exercises. I was not a good dance person. However, I learnt a lot. I learnt from the professor, and I also learnt was from my classmates. I often looked at the way they danced. From that, I repeated them by my own style and creating. Free dance time was my favorite time of class because I could learn a lot and express myself most. I think it was really a good way to learn new thing and create something new. Overall, my body changed...

Integrity: an Essay on God

...In this short essay I define an experientially-based concept of God that can be shown to exist. I hope that others will find this idea as powerful and rewarding as I do. First, we will specify the domain or scope of the concept of Universe. R. Buckminster Fuller wrote a definition of Universe (Synergetics, Macmillan Publishing Co., 1975, p.81) that adequately delimits our problem-solving space: Universe is the aggregate of all humanity's consciously apprehended and communicated nonsimultaneous and only partially overlapping experiences. Aggregate means sum-totally but nonunitarily conceptual as of any one moment. Consciousness means an awareness of otherness. Apprehension means information furnished by those wave frequencies tunable within man's limited sensorial spectrum. Communicated means informing self or others. Nonsimultaneous means not occurring at the same time. Overlapping is used because every event has duration, and their initiatings and terminatings are most often of different duration. Neither the set of all experiences nor the set of all the words used to describe them are instantly reviewable nor are they of the same length. Experiences are either involuntary (subjective) or voluntary (objective), and all experiences, both physical and metaphysical, are finite because each begins and ends. With this background I now present my current working definition of God. God is the loving, superhuman, nonanthropomorphic, intellectual integrity operative...

This is the guy who said, ‘this is not me, this is yesterday’s breakfast. And when this is gone doesn’t mean I am gone, it means that you need to find other ways to communicate with me.’” And I actually just got an email yesterday from a woman who said, “Oh! I’ve been dreaming about Bucky Fuller and I actually saw him in the mall the other day.” And I am like, “Whoa! This is pretty interesting she’s in Australia.” And I think that his influence is like everywhere. [0:02:27] What I decided was that I was going to do -- that he had conducted a 56 year experiment to determine and document what one individual could achieve that could not be accomplished by any religion, government, organization of any kind. So it’s basically what one man can do and he documented it and I said, “Well, when somebody does an experiment, you don’t just archive it away. You actually examine it.” So that’s what I’d spent the last 30 years doing literally. And doing what he told us to do, which is what all...

Anorexia

...Dying To Be Thin 47% of young girls reported that they wanted to lose weight because of pictures in magazines that they saw. Movies, magazines, and the media all contribute to girls not being comfortable in their bodies because of airbrushing the models or making the actors excessively workout or diet to get to a specific size. Famous people are supposed to be role models to teen girls, but the way the famous people are portrayed actually makes young girls not love their bodies and themselves. As girls reach a certain age, they begin to look at their bodies differently and want to see a change. These girls will try anything like dieting, diet pills, or even starving themselves to see this change, but the emotional and physical effects are never thought of when trying to lose weight a certain way. Average sized people should be portrayed more in the media because of the medias impact on body image perception of young women. Anorexia is a disease that involves unusual eating habits and self-starvation. The people who are affected are mostly young women, but people of either gender can become anorexic at any age. The most common cases of anorexia are found in young females, athletes, and people portrayed in the media. There are many physical effects that an anorexic person will experience. Weak bones are a common negative effect which really hurts an athlete. Hair loss and skin discoloration are other effects that effect both men and women. Other diseases can result from anorexia...

...Case Study #2: Habitat for Humanity Stephanie Eyler Organizational Behavior March 14, 2013 Out of the many non-profit organizations that are dedicated to helping others, there is one that is recognized as a leader in providing housing for those that would otherwise not have the opportunity for home ownership. With five area offices around the world, Habitat for Humanity is a leader in battling poverty housing. Since being founded in 1976, it has helped to build or repair over 600,000 homes, sheltering more than 3 million people worldwide on five continents and in 3,000 communities. Habitat for Humanity’s vision is to help “build a world where everyone has a decent place to live. “ Built on Christian beliefs, Habitat’s mission statement reflects these beliefs as the organization “seeks to put God’s love into action, by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.” However, Habitat does not discriminate against other religions, nor do they discriminate based on race, gender, color or sexual orientation. The organization sends a message of hope to the more than 2 billion people worldwide who live in slum housing, with more than 100 million being homeless, that they can and deserve to live in a decent, healthy and energy efficient home. In order to make this hope a reality, Habitat uses a volunteer workforce and donated materials to make these homes happen. Under the supervision of a trained and experienced leader on site, volunteers are assigned...

R. Buckminster Fuller

...R. Buckminster Fuller was born on July 12, 1895 in Milton Massachusetts. He was known to most as a designer, architect, poet, educator, engineer, philosopher, and environmentalist. He believed that many of the world’s problems were due to hunger and homelessness, so he spent his life solving these issues through inexpensive and efficient design. Recognizing the inefficiency of the automobile, Bucky spent the late twenties designing a car that would incorporate the engineering advances of the airplane. In 1933, he presented the first prototype of the Dymaxion car. The Dymaxion car could hold twelve passengers, go 120 miles per hour and used half the gas of the standard car, utilizing aerodynamics construction and only three wheels. Another one of his projects was the 4D tower, a lightweight, prefabricated, multi-storey apartment tower to be delivered anywhere in the world by airship. Once delivered the towers would generate their own light and heat with an independent sewage disposal system. The project that made Fuller’s name was the 1929 Dymaxion House, which he unveiled in the interior decorating department of the Chicago department store, Marshall-Field. The name Dymaxion was coined by the marketer Waldo Warren who, after listening to Fuller talk for two days, devised endless combinations of syllables taken from his highly idiosyncratic vocabulary. Finally he found the word which seemed to him best to dramatize Fuller’s personality. Made from lightweight steel, duraluminium...

Modeling and Forecasting Natural Gas Prices

...Financial Econometrics Modeling and Forecasting Natural Gas Prices Abstract In this project we will model and forecast the natural gas prices over the short-term through the development of the Error Correction Model (ECM). This is presented as the best predictive model among various alternatives. To build this model, we gathered the oil prices to analyze the impact of the changes in these prices on the changes in natural gas prices. The results of the forecasting exercise, carried out using the US Natural Gas 3 Months Strips series, suggest that the forecasting approach can be used to obtain a performance measure for the price.
