As a Hispanic in Joliet I don’t experience a lot of racism towards me here because a lot of the people here are Hispanic but as a Hispanic in America there is a lot of racism towards my race. I’m grateful I live in place where people aren't very prejudice towards my race. Especially because of Donald Trump and how racist he is towards them, now people think it’s okay to express your hate for any race. Racists think just because we’re Hispanic that we’re automatically illegal.

Donald Trump wants to send every illegal Mexican back to Mexico but if they’re good then he want to bring them back to the US. It’s scary that someone so hateful can be president soon. I believe he’s like another Hitler. He simply just wants to get rid of the Hispanic …show more content…
I used to be able to when I was younger because my aunt that used to babysit me spoke nothing but Spanish. But then when I came home my parents spoke English to me so I lost it. Which I don’t, I’m a very white Mexican. I still get very upset with my parents because I’m not able to speak I’m not able to talk to my grandparents very well because of how bad my Spanish speaking skills are. My grandparents don’t like me very much compared to my cousins that speak Spanish fluently. My cousins that are my age are able to have full conversations with my grandparents but me and my little sister can’t hold a conversation to save our lives. For example when my grandpa tries to ask me about my soccer season I can't really tell him about it so he doesn't even ask me anymore. He told my mom I’m basically a disgrace because I can’t speak Spanish. So because I struggle speaking to them and most of my aunts and uncles I don’t like going over there Also I struggle ordering food sometimes because I can’t pronounce the names correctly. I always get embarrassed with trying to speak Spanish in front of everyone because I sound like a regular Hispanic but I can’t say words correctly. But just because I have brown skin people think I’m fluent in Spanish, I like tacos and other Mexican food, I like Mexican music, or that I’m

Avoiding the Uninsured

...the Uninsured How City Hospitals are Giving Up on the Poor Gerard Molnar Keller Graduate School of Management Health Service Systems HS541 Dr. Nancy Borkowski February 21, 2010 Avoiding the Uninsured 2. How City Hospitals are Giving Up on the Poor On a sunny, unseasonably warm autumn day in September of 2008, twelve individuals, seven women, five men picked up a dozen shovels in a field in New Lenox, IL and drove them into the ground. Thus the $400 million 289-bed state-of-the-art Silver Cross replacement hospital at Route 6 and Clinton Road was born. Silver Cross Hospital has, in fact been around since 1892 in nearby Joliet just five miles north up Interstate 55. At the ceremony, Dr. Daniel Gutierrez, Chairman of the Silver Cross Board of Directors used the original shovel that broke ground for the current hospital back in 1892 and in doing so he mixed Joliet soil with that of New Lenox soil forever linking the hospital’s past with that of its future (Village of New Lenox, 2008). So why would you, after serving a community for 118 years, suddenly pack up and move only five miles down the road? All the officials at the groundbreaking ceremony that day said all the right things. Silver Cross President and CEO Paul Pawlak said, Not many hospitals have the opportunity to build a brand new facility, but Silver Cross is not like other hospitals. The culture of Silver Cross is the spirit of “can do” and this is the spirit we bring to improving the health care experience of...

The Future of Railroads

...The Resilience of the Railroad Industry Lindsay Millar, Jessica Settlecowski & Mike Gawel MGT 674 March 23, 2013 The history and resilience of the railway industry is rather remarkable as it has helped shape the landscape and the formation of the United States. Railways allowed colonies to settle in the West and the country suddenly became connected from coast to coast. This encouraged the exchange of goods and stimulated the development of towns and communities along track lines. Soldiers were shipped directly to the forefront of battleground lines and supplied with a constant flow of ammunition. Most importantly, trains were the steam engine that fueled the industrial revolution. The railway industry’s history is rich with experience and wise with age, as it has survived many seemingly insurmountable obstacles, including: the Great Depression, civil war, the advent of automobiles and airplanes and federal regulation. Federal regulation took the largest toll on the industry as it restricted the ability of the industry to adapt to future demands and market requirements. The growth of rail was stunted by 100 years of federal regulation and since the Staggers Act of 1980 which led to deregulation, the industry has been struggling to recover. After the implementation of the Staggers Act the industry has undergone serious reconstruction which has increased the overall performance and reliability of rail. As service levels improve the demand for low rates and large capacity...

Linneman Re Letter

...Volume 10, Issue 3 Fall 2010 No Double Dip On July 5th, 6th, and very early on the 7th of this year, I engaged in 70 minutes of rigorous stationary biking, a full cycle of weightlifting, and my daily stretching regimen. Oh sure, I had some hip pain and a sore knee, but at age 59, I was rocking and rolling. In this regard, I was not unlike the U.S. economy in 2005-April 2007, which was doing great in spite of some fundamental problems. Then in the course of a few hours on July 7th, I was unable to walk more than a few steps after having a hip replaced. Just like the U.S. economy in late 2008, my infirmity had taken me down a few notches! My subsequent recovery was remarkably similar to that facing the U.S. economy: a satisfactory recovery to unremarkable mediocrity. As I describe my recovery, bear in mind that the U.S. economy shed 8.4 million jobs and 4.1% of GDP in roughly 18 months. This is a lot of economic damage. On July 8th, I was able to walk twice a day for 20 minutes, bearing weight on crutches, lifting light hand weights, and doing simple leg therapy. By July 19th, I did not need any pills or a cane, and was able to walk an hour twice a day at a 23-minute-mile pace. By August 19th, I biked at full resistance for 50 minutes, walked 15-minute-miles for an hour, actively lifted leg weights, Thru Latest Available as of Sept 20, 2010 3.0 $420.5 20.5 1.9 960.1 $418 15.8 6.3 1,458.0 723.0 -50.0 261.0 681.0 15.8 4.5 20.0 93.9 -2.3 2.4 -190.2 $305.1 -$351.9 On the...

An FBI agent examines a potentially contaminated letter during a white powder training exercise. 2012 The FBI Story I A Message from FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III For the FBI and its partners, 2012 was a year that reminded us once again of the seriousness of the security threats facing our nation. During the year, extremists plotted to attack—unsuccessfully, thanks to the work of our Joint Terrorism Task Forces—the U.S. Capitol, the New York Federal Reserve Bank, and other landmarks on U.S. soil. Tragically, on the 11th anniversary of 9/11, a hateful attack in Benghazi took the lives of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. In the cyber realm, a rising tide of hackers took electronic aim at global cyber infrastructure, causing untold damages. High-dollar white-collar crimes of all kinds also continued to siphon significant sums from the pocketbooks of consumers. And in Newtown, Connecticut, 20 young children and six adults lost their lives in one of the worst mass shootings in American history, ending a year of violence that saw similar tragedies around the country. Working with its colleagues around the globe, the FBI is committed to taking a leadership role in protecting the nation. As you can see from...
