We all have consumed meat at least once in our life whether on purpose or on accident. The passage, “Against Meat” by Jonathan Safran Foer, is about how eating meat should give the ability to refrain from eating meat in public and only eat it behind closed doors. The author struggles with the choice of being a meat eater or being a vegetarian. Foer goes back and forth as a vegetarian and a person who eats animals He has had listen to his grandmother’s food which he had loved and decided to become a meat eater. His Grandmother also said that “The fatter a child is, the fitter it is - if it’s a boy. He also claims to be very ignorant about the world and is not actually aware of what he is eating. But the ironic thing is that he and his wife brought the fact that they were vegetarians and told them to their child. This then proves that he also is a vegetarian.

At the end of his essay on being a vegetarian or not, he then claims that he did not eat the meat but it turns out it was a vegetable. He said that he didn’t want to eat the pork so this showed that he did believe that babysitter after all. I was thinking this because he himself said that he wouldn’t harm anything. This is how he shows that he is a vegetarian at sometimes but also a meat eater at other times. He knows himself he can’t hurt an animal as he said at the end of this war for he didn't eat

In conclusion, the author is very conflicted on his choice to be either a meat eater or just a vegetarian. He has reasons to be a vegetarian. One of which is because of his babysitter, hurting the animal. Then he becomes a meat eater because he does not really believe in what his babysitter said. He also changes his opinion on being a vegetarian and becoming a meat eater and vise versa because of some special events.
