Actus Reus
The equation for Actus Reus is, Actus Reus, which is a guilty act and must be voluntary. Actus Reus is actually doing the acting, for example stabbing someone. The next part of the equation is plus Mens Rea, this means guilty mind, which means they had to of wanted to stab someone either by Intention, recklessness or malice aforethought. Strict liability can be here instead, this is where committing the offense alone is enough for you to be guilty, for example speeding, it doesn’t matter if you intended to you did it and that’s enough for you to be charged. Absence of defence is next and finally this all equals crime.
Actus Reus + Mens Rea or Strict Liability + Absence of a defence = Crime
There are four ways in which Actus Reus can be committed. The first is “Results crimes are those in which the actus Reus is defined in terms of prohibited consequences irrespective of how these are brought about.” This is where causation takes place and it is the actual consequences that are important where physical act links with consequences and results. The next for cases are example of causation. T R v Smith 1959, a fight broke out in a military barracks and a soldier was stabbed, on the way to the hospital he was dropped twice and the treatment at the hospital was inadequate, he later died, did he die because of the wound or the care he received. The stabbing was seen as the reason he died. R v Malcherek, a Defendant’s actions put him in the hospital and on life support, the time came to switch of the life support, the original action was deemed the reason why the patient died. Next is R v Jordan (RARE), a patient was stabbed and sent to hospital, his wound was healing and everything was going well, a doctor gave him an antibiotic and he died, the doctor was liable for his death. Finally we have R v Blaue where a women was stabbed, doctor said if she had a

Music Genealogy

...Nicole Modak Music 100 September 11, 2012 Music Genealogy As a child I remember listening to the typical children’s music. Barney was my favorite television show, so I can still remember the songs that Barney used to sing such as The Clean Up Song. My parents also exposed me to the types of music they enjoyed listening to. My mother loves artists such as Babyface and Toni Braxton. It was our tradition to clean the house while playing music. We would sing and dance to my mom’s favorite songs for hours. My mother also loves music by Josh Groban. She always played his music in the car, which instantly made me sleepy. My father’s favorite artist is Bruce Springsteen and because my father exposed me to his music at such a young age I grew to love the music as well. My dad also introduced me to classic hits by the Jackson 5. As a child I took chorus in elementary school where we sang and learned about music. I played the flute during the fourth and fifth grades. I loved the music in the Broadway musicals I have attended with my family. I have seen The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. The music in both plays was fantastic. My classmates influenced my musical taste because during free time in class teachers would play music. My peers and I would all decide which songs the teacher would play. This encouraged me to listen to the types of music that my classmates listened to even if it was different then the songs I typically liked. I grew up living 30 minutes from New York City...

That’s how she found out what happened on the day my father died. She went looking for him because that morning there was no rose. My mom and dad were true partners,” Romney says. Josh is the only student in the class who refuses to sign and is then required by Radisson to debate the topic with him, with the class members deciding who wins. Technology

...oday's technology is already producing a marked shift in the way we think and behave, particularly among the young. I mustn't, however, be too censorious, because what I'm talking about is pleasure. For some, pleasure means wine, women and song; for others, more recently, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll; and for millions today, endless hours at the computer console. But whatever your particular variety of pleasure (and energetic sport needs to be added to the list), it's long been accepted that 'pure' pleasure - that is to say, activity during which you truly "let yourself go" - was part of the diverse portfolio of normal human life. Until now, that is. Now, coinciding with the moment when technology and pharmaceutical companies are finding ever more ways to have a direct influence on the human brain, pleasure is becoming the sole be-all and end-all of many lives, especially among the young. We could be raising a hedonistic generation who live only in the thrill of the computer-generated moment, and are in distinct danger of detaching themselves from what the rest of us would consider the real world. This is a trend that worries me profoundly. For as any alcoholic or drug addict will tell you, nobody can be trapped in the moment of pleasure forever. Sooner or later, you have to come down. I'm certainly not saying all video games are addictive (as yet, there is not enough research to back that up), and I genuinely welcome the new generation of "brain-training" computer...
