THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATES

Looking at both debates, it seems both candidates are using lines and words for their ad campaigns to point out the other’s faults and their strengths. The format of a Town Hall setting is not as useful or structured as the last debate at the Lynn University. The Town Hall is too much of a “get your question asked” style with the candidates yelling and talking over each other. The moderators seem to lose control of the debate as it went on and it was more of a shouting match then an actual debate. Also the debates feature a the incumbent, who has 3 ½ years of a record to go on, and the challenger, who hasn’t been a Governor for awhile and has no record, per se, to run on and can easily say ‘I can do better than the President”.

As for the debate itself, questions are being asked but neither candidate is willing to give full answers or barely answer the question. They seem to already have a script of what they intend to say and repeatedly veer off topic to other points they want to make. As far as the Social and economic issues, they are clear contrast on how each candidate wants to tackle things. The one pressing question I would have for both of them are how they expect to get the things down with a Congress controlled by the Republicans and the Senate controlled by the Democrats. For example, President Obama said “Fiscal Cliff” is not going to happen but how does he get the Republicans to go along with the not letting sequestration without offering some type of incentives. Also, both candidates are campaigning on making jobs and getting employment down, but neither say specifically how they will do it. The idea of Social Security privatization, Medicare overhaul, etc. and neither offer details on how they would do these things.

The last debate shouldn’t even be called a debate because both candidates agreed on mostly everything the other side, which to me, is quite interesting. Gov Romney has been saying the whole campaign that President Obama is failing in leadership abroad, wrong with the decision to leave Afghanistan in 2014, not engaging enough in Pakistan or Syria, but when asked these particular questions about what he would do in these situations, he pretty much echoed exactly what the current President is doing. How can you, for months, on a campaign trail, say the foreign policy is weak and needs to be changed, but have no details on what you would change?. On the other hand, President Obama was more aggressive in his remarks, seems more confident of what he was saying, but still went back to social issue to try to shore up what he missed out on in the first debate. They both agree with Iran, withdrawing from Afghanistan, drones, etc. But the one difference I saw and President Obama seized on it is defense spending. Gov Romney stated he wanted to increase the military spending and add more troops, ships, airplanes, etc., and when asked how he was going to fund it, he said he was going to repeal Obamacare and cut some programs. First problem with that is, the Senate, as it is constructed, is controlled by the Democrats and they are not going to allow that to happen. So, with that, how does he pay for the increase in defense spending? President Obama, on the other hand, wants to decrease defense spending in major areas in order to keep big ticket items like Medicare, Welfare, Social Security and other social items, which can be problematic, considering the rate that China is building its weapons and forces. He also tends to be reactive in foreign policy and it takes his Administration to long to act in certain situations, which I feel is a show of hesitation.

These debates are little more that a media show for the networks and provide no new information or details on how a candidate will lead the country. No one is talking about the real issues like, how will they work with the other party on bipartisan efforts to make the country stronger, to generate jobs, or pass well needed laws. Both candidates are held hostage by the respective party who both have dig their heels in on their “non-negotiable”. It is mostly “red meat’ to their own parties and lip service to independents and undecided voters.

...Justification Report January 22, 2012 Mrs. Mary Tate Manager of GCS 1024 Iron Point Road, Folsom, CA 95630 Dear Mrs. Mary, This justification report is on the Addition of New Articles to our Current Collection Due to the lack of diversity of articles, the addition of new articles to the current collection would be essential. As a result, articles being out dated and a good number of them are used as case studies. I have conducted three publications, such as – Journal of International Business, Journal of Taxation and Journal of Business Ethics. All of three publications are very much interesting to me. After conducting my research on three publications, I chose the Journal of Business Ethics as my favorites out of the three. The Journal of Business Ethics provides publications on ethical issues related to business, and analyses of systems of production, consumption, marketing, economic accounting, public relations, and organization behavior. I chose it because, from 1982 till present (2011) its frequency is 29 and cost is very reliable for our company. Also, in one of its issues in 2011 by Shum and Yam, they suggest a new model that is rapidly growing called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that can fulfill social and economic responsibility simultaneously. It continues by explaining how managers that adopt CSR model will attain profits in their business enterprise. Implementing the use of CSR to our company would help our company rapidly grow and......

Justification Report

...INTRODUCTION The budget is the financial expression of the project and should accurately reflect the costs of the proposed research/education/service program. The budget justification provides the sponsor agency and reviewers of the application with information such as why costs are programmatically necessary and how they are calculatced. Reviewers will analyze the financial data to determine if the proposed costs are allocable to the program, allowable under federal cost principles or non-federal sponsor guidelines (whichever is applicable), reasonable and treated consistently by the institution and similar organizations. When the University receives an award, the approved budget items become part of the agreement between the University and the sponsor. Only those costs that are included in the budget or re-budgeted costs allowed by the sponsor should be directly charged to the award. If the cost requires prior institutional and/or sponsor approval after the award is made, the approval must be secured before the cost is incurred. Therefore, it is important to develop a budget that will enable the PI to fulfill all of the programmatic requirements of the project. A budget and budget justification must be provided for: • Proposed direct costs • Proposed cost share • Estimated program income, including projected revenue and expenditures • Facilities and Administration (F&A or Indirect Costs) FUNDING SOURCES One of the first steps in developing a budget......

...I remember as a kid that I loved chocolate cake. Actually, like most kids, I loved all things chocolate. As time went on, my love for chocolate and sweets began to decrease. I believe that developmental and cognitive psychology, are the subfields to best describe the reasons for my preference. I believe that cognitive psychology would explain the emotional connection and emotional development for the love of the food. Developmental psychology would explain how the preference for the food has changed over time. Cognitive and Developmental Psychology Developmental psychologists study the human growth and development that occurs throughout a persons’ entire life. This subfield includes physical development, but also cognitive, social, intellectual, perceptual, personality and emotional growth. The study of human development is important to all forms of psychology, education and history. Developmental psychology helps us to better understand how people change and grow and then apply this knowledge to help us realize our future potentials. Cognitive psychology is the branch of psychology that studies mental processes. This includes how people think, perceive things, remember and learn. The core focus of cognitive psychology is on how people retain, process and store information. There are numerous practical applications for cognitive research, such as improving memory, increasing decision-making accuracy and structuring educational curriculum to improve learning. ...Challenges in the Global Business Environment Jusef Strayer University BUS475: Business and Society Challenges in the Global Business Environment We as consumers always want to understand the motive and integrity behind the companies that we buy from. Whether it is to make profit for their company and genuinely provide for the consumer, or to solely make profit for themselves. As consumers, one wants to be reassured that when we do purchase products from these companies that manufacturers will always remain respectful and empathic with issues that arise, have the consumers best interest at heart, and more importantly is the company ethically sound about decision making, and do they hold veracity when it comes to the reliability of their company. One could ask what is ethics and conduct? Ethics is depicted as, “rules of behavior that is based on ideas about what is morally good and bad,” (Merriam-Webster, 2014). Conduct is described as, “ a mode or standard of personal behavior especially based on moral principles,” (Merriam-Webster, 2014). Companies hold a Code of Ethics and Conduct to “guide and reference its employees on how the business should be operated. It also clarifies an organization's mission, values and principles, linking them with standards of professional conduct,” (Ethics Resource Center, 2009). Throughout this paper we will observe the Code of Ethics and Conduct of three major companies, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint Wireless, and compare each code......

...Alston Professor Traci Wilmoth ENG 315: Professional Communications May 8, 2016 Problem Statement At the end of the 2016, we must complete and provide an auditor’s report to the National Federal Financial Review Board (NFFRB), just as we do every year. However, our current audit contactor has decided to discontinue its services to our company. This proposes a huge problem because without a detailed and thorough auditing service and financial report, we run the risk of failing Federal Government accountability guidelines and required financial transparency. We must decide how we will proceed with meeting our fiscal financial requirements. Overview of Alternatives Alternative A – Start a government-wide bidding process to solicit audit service vendor proposals from a list of reputable auditor contractors. Alternative B – Choose to request an extension from NFFRB to the deadline date to allow our organization the time to research and procure an appropriate auditor contact, and prepare the agency-wide documents, supporting documentation and consideration of costs. Criteria Per the Agency’s policy requirements, the following criteria must be considered: 1. We must choose from competitive, and highly recommended options/sources. Details of researched sources must be included in report. 2. The audit contractor must agree to a 5-year contract. This is very important, and will prove to be cost effective and ensure that we have appropriate......
