Company background:

Sandvik Materials Technology, of which Kanthal is a brand, is a world-leading developer and manufacturer of products in advanced stainless steels and special alloys for the most demanding environments, as well as products and systems for industrial heating. Kanthal is the largest of the six divisions in Sweden. There are currently 7,300 employees. Kanthal specializes in production and sales of electrical resistance heating elements. Kanthal heating Technology supplies manufacturers of electrical appliances and heating systems with wire that generates heat through electric resistance. Sandvik Materials Technology consists of four product areas: Tube, Strip, Primary products and Wire and Heating Technology. Headquartered in a town near Stockholm, Sweden Kanthal has a product range consisting of 15,000 items and supplying to about 10,000 customers.

During the period of 1985 to 1987 Kanthal experienced steady sale revenue of around 850 million each year.
