Mary spent a lot of her younger years moving from place to place. By around age 12 her family had settled down in Auburn Washington, and she said her parents stayed there till her sisters senior year in high school. Her home life was the same, she could rely on her parents being around, but not emotionally available. Also she was no longer forced to take her sister along with her anymore, and they grew further apart. Her mother dropped her, and her sister to Sunday mass. Mary says church didn't have any affect on her, and didn't learn anything from the catholic teachings. She did attend Catholic Youth Organization every Wednesday. This is where she met and spent a lot of time with one of her very good friends Karen Wagner.
