In the short story "The Last Dog" by Katherine Patterson, a young boy named Brock explores the outside world for the first time. The lesson that I learned from the story is that it is good to try new things. I liked reading "The Last Dog" because the author wrote the story and great detail. It was very descriptive on explaining the way their world was different from the outside world. While I was reading the story, I think you can consider me like Brock, he is very brave. I have always been outgoing and wanted to try big things. I really enjoyed reading it, because I was able to understand the main setting of the story.

In this story, Brock has lived in the dome for his whole life. He has never seen the outside world. He has heard the people that went to the outside world never came back. Brock decided to go to the outside world and explore new things. When he was outside he saw a bunch of things he has never seen before. Until, he found a dog and named it Brog. He was told that there were no more dogs, but Brock found one and was surprised. He later saves Brog, when he over hears them talking about doing experiments on him. …show more content…
The story takes place inside of a dome, were Brock was created. It was a high tech uniform dome keeping others from the outside world. The main characters in this story is Brock and Brog, but mainly Brock. On the outside of the dome it looked like a deserted earth. It was very dry, hot, and barely any grass their. Inside of the dome it looked like a laboratory, something like a scientist
