Adam Behr, Keith Negus and John Street discusses the use of sampling in today’s terms. In fact, they argue that sampling is a technique placed on a vast spectrum of other musical producing techniques. They also argue that today’s era of hip-hop is a “post-sampling reality.” They also examine the legal, social, and ethical influences on sampling music today. While “The Anthology of Rap” skims the use of sampling in hip-hop, this article focuses more on the use of sampling today. By combining this reference with other references, I can have a full understanding of how sampling has changed over the course of hip-hop’s full history.
