In the late 1930s, Kelly made his way to the Broadway stage. He had small roles in Leave It to Me!, and One For the Money. In 1940, Kelly played the lead in the popular musical comedy Pal Joey. MGM executive Louis B. Mayer saw Kelly's great performance and offered him a movie contract with his studio. In 1942, Kelly made his film debut with Judy Garland in For Me and My Gal. In Anchors Aweigh (1945), Kelly danced a duet with Jerry, a cartoon mouse something that had not been seen before. Although he has a lengthy filmography, Kelly is remembered for his lead role in Singin' in the Rain, regarded by some as the best dance film ever made. Accompanied only by an umbrella, Kelly put together one of the most joyous dances ever filmed 1952. He explained that his inspiration for the famous street dance scene was the way children like to play in the rain. As interest in the movie musical began to fade in the 1960s, Kelly turned to television. He starred in two short-lived programs; Going My Way, an adaptation of the 1944 Bing Crosby movie, and a 1971 variety show called The Funny Side. Kelly did better with the 1967 television movie Jack and the Beanstalk, which he directed, produced and starred in. The children's...

Ned Kelly a Heroin or Villain

...Ned Kelly a heroin or a villain Name: Course: Tutor: Date: 2nd November 2011 Ned Kelly a hero or a villain Whether Ned Kelly was a hero or a villain depends on the basis of arguments an individual uses in classifying his actions. Of great importance, is beginning by understanding the subject matter of the discussion? A hero refers to male characters that, in the face of danger and adversity or from a position of weakness, display courage and will for self sacrifice. However, such a definition only brings the martial excellence locking out moral excellence which is very important in concluding how heroic a character is.[1] A villain on the other hand refers to an "evil" character that tends to have a negative impact on the human existence. This brings out a picture of a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or criminal acts to inflict both emotional and physical pain to the subject. Ned Kelly is referred to as an assailant. Ned Kelly was an Australian bush ranger who eluded from his home to live in the bush after being involved in a clash with the Victorian police. This clash was a tool that represented the general views of several Australia civilians who resented against the Anglo-Australian ruling class. It was during his stay as a bush ranger that Ned formed a gang that turned out to be mere cold blooded cop killers, hell bent in eradicating Victorian police...

Kelly Services

...Kelly Services To find out if Kelly Services is under performing or over performing, it is a good idea to take a look at the company's financial statements and evaluate its condition base on this. They should compare the company’s financial ratios relative to their competitors. Some of the main items used in valuing a company’s performances are: sales, earnings per share, dividends, current assets, current liabilities, and long-term debt. By using these items they can determine the company’s financial ratios to value the company’s health relative to their competitors. A company can benefit from tax advantages by incorporating debt into its capital structure. The reason for this is that interest on debt is tax deductible on a company’s income statement. When a company issues debt in the form of bonds the interest paid is taxed only once at the personal level. On the other hand, equity has no tax advantage to a corporation. The dividends paid to equity holders are taxed twice, once at the corporate level and once at the personal level. At the current time Kelly Services is only equity financed. However, the company could benefit from this tax advantage by incorporating debt into their capital structure. Even though debt has an advantage to the company’s financial statements, it does not increase overall value to the firm. As company alters their capital structure they are changing the risk of the firm, while at the same time they are changing the required rate of return...

Kelly in Japan

...The Japanese culture and customs are very different from what Kelly was used to in the United States. Within the case, the biggest issue with the Japanese businessmen that Kelly saw was the issue of being a woman. With the Japanese culture, many Japanese men do not relate easily to women with authority. This presented a major problem with kelly as she was seen more as an "office lady" then the program manager of her start up internet services company. Her talent as a manager was being overlooked due to their culture. Women in Japan between the ages of 25-30 tend to leave the workplace to start families and may return eventually to a part-time job. Whereas the women in the United States accounted for a 51% workforce in high-paying management positions recorded in 2007. Japan is a highly masculine country. According to previous chapters, another culture clash was the fact that when the Japanese are confronted with a serious question or situation they tend to disregard the problem with either leaving the situation, lowering their heads and becoming quiet, or even leaving the room in a business meeting. This stems from Japan being a less assertive country and neutral in emotional orientation. This can make Japanese businessmen "hard to read". This was the reason Kelly became easily frustrated when her employees did not present the planned proposal. A business card to a Japanese businessman is a very prestigious thing. Kelly did not do enough research as a manager with a country she...

Rand Kelly Hero

...Ned Kelly is Australia's most infamous bushranger. Throughout the years, that time has passed and culture has changed, our fascination with Ned Kelly's story abides. Through his trademark iron helmet and armour, he has managed to hold our attention. Ned Kelly's story has been argued and re-told over and over again, but the question still remains, is he a hero or a villain? For some, Ned Kelly is known as a hero, as he stood up for his beliefs and what he believed was right. He was a victim of fraudulent police and forced to become an outlaw. The people saw him as Australia's equivalent to Robin Hood, as he was known to bring back the money he stole to the poor. This earned Ned Kelly the title of ‘The People's Hero', as most of the poor despised the police and knew them as selfish and corrupt. He brought justice to the use of black trackers and the Felons Apprehension Act and was seen in a new light by many upon reading The Jerilderie Letter that explains the reasons and circumstances that lead to his actions, such as his hatred towards the police after his sister was assaulted by Constable Fitzpatrick, who had also jailed his mother for apparently hitting him over the head with a shovel....
