Kerrie Peterson was charged with the task of reducing operating costs by CEO Tom Wilkes by fifteen percent. Kerrie knew there were challenges to overcome with her management team of cutting operating expenses and questioned her own leadership skills in leading her management team to meet the goal. There was some dysfunction within the senior management team that Kerrie had assembled. Kerrie's team consist of Sam Wright was one of the most senior members of her team and was Vice President of account management. He seemed to be resentful toward Kerrie as he had wanted her job and appears to challenge her leadership. Tiffany is over business strategy and planning and feels threatened that others are trying to cut her department …show more content…
Next, part of the analysis was an employee survey and found many employees were not happy and did not trust the company. They had an uncertainty of their job and were not motivated so Kerrie wanted the design team to design account management in a way that would motivate and be rewarding for employees (Gurley & Tavakoli, n.d.). The redesign team also found what competitors were doing in the same industry and felt there were areas that Access could innovate and cut costs. In conclusion, Access was facing a recession with losses in the next quarter, and management had to make cuts to suppress stock price decline. The company was in the "decline" stage of the organizational life cycle (Lester & Parnell, 2006). Competitors in this industry had started utilizing the internet to costs and Access was at a disadvantage because they had not focused on the internet. ...Kerrie Peterson works for a Fortune 500 company named Access. She is currently a General Manager (GM), over the corporate leading business unit. Each GM was asked to cut back their operating cost and Kerrie agreed to set her goal to 15 percent, during a quarterly financial review planning session. She was confident about meeting the 15 percent goal, but the challenge was getting her senior manager on board with the ideal.
