Jason Russle is the creator of Invisible Children Incorporation and the short film Kony 2012. Jason's

goal was to make Joseph Kony famous by encouraging supporters to plaster the United States cities

with posters, in order to make the fight against the Lord's Resistance Army an issue of “national

interest” to Washington. In the short film Kony 2012 it is said that in Uganda Joseph Kony has

abducted an estimate of 66,000 children, some of which have became soldiers or sex slaves.

Several Ugandans are out raged about Jason's film because he has mad accusations that numerous

things are happening in Uganda right now, and that we need to stop him by 2012. When really Joseph

isn't even in Uganda anymore and the war has already subsided. “There has not been a single soul from

the Lord's Resistance Army here since 2006. Now we have peace, people are back in their homes, they

are planting their fields, they are starting their businesses. That is what people should help us with”

(Unknown). Having looked over many articles and videos it shows that Ugandans are upset about

Jason's video he has made without any real evidence to back him up on his accusations. Jason didn't

even get enough research in to know what Kony's name actually is, it's pronounced “Kohn”. How are

we suppose to be convinced by his video if Jason can't even get the name right.

“My response to KONY 2012” by Rosebell Kagumire. Rosebell is originally from Uganda she saw

that there was a new issue about Joseph Kony by Jason's video so she thought she should watch it to

catch herself up. Rosebell was completely lost through out the whole video because Jason had no clue

what he was talking about. Her major problem with the video is that Jason implied that in Africa people

are hopeless and that only people who are not in that continent can help them, when its not true. Her

second problem was that she felt Jason didn't use any resources to back him up and he needs to tell

certain issues about Uganda about ending the war, that its more than just one evil man killing children.

Rosebell see's the video as an outsider trying to be a hero rescuing African children, and that Jason

doesn't tell the story of Africans as he should. He sees them as being totally enable to help themselves

and that the power to help them is within America. Rosebell doesn't feel that the story of Joseph Kony

should so easily been told as a “good guy” and a “bad guy” without elabortating of the government

and other situations. Yes Joseph Kony needs to be stopped but you need to make sure that communites

need not to go back to rebelian. Rosebell ends on a note that “This paints a picture of Uganda six or

seven years ago, that is totally not how it is today. It's highly irresponsible”

Slubogo user of youtube thinks that Jason has just made the video to make money off of it, and only

31% of donations given actually go to Uganda and when it does go to Uganda it is going to help train

the troops of Uganda for the “war”. The Invisible Children Incorporation makes over 13 million dollars

a year as a company, and only 31% actually goes to the causes. Where does the other 69% go? Jason is

making a living off this video, maybe he is trying to help as well but he has a lot of money he is

profiting on. If you want to donate money to a cause you should look into what your giving your

money into so it doesnt just go into somebodys pocket.

It was shown in the Los Angeles Times that Jason has been arrested a couple weeks after the Kony

video has gotten famous and people like Rosebell have responded to it questioning his accuretsy of the

topic. He was found naked, touching himself roaming around San Diego cursing and yelling. His

family and co-workers said that Jason doesn't do drugs or drinks and that he was just sleep deprived

and dehydrated. Is Jason just feeling the heat of his video he was in the wrong of making, because he

doesn't have the right to call these people voiceless and enable to help themselves therefor he will be

the hero. Maybe Jason has just gotten bad karma for what he has done to these people. Making them

feel that they are more in danger because he is going to start a war all over again when Joseph Kony

has already passed and there is finally peace within Uganda.

Essay About Kony 2012

...Kony 2012 Imagine constantly fearing of being abducted and killed. And fearing that you could lose a family member. That's what is constantly on the minds of the children in Uganda. One day I was surfing YouTube when I came across a video called Kony 2012. Kony 2012 is a video campaign targeted to spread the word of a man named Joseph Kony. Joseph Kony is a leader of a rebel group called Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). Hundreds of children are abducted by LRA, given weapons, and forced to fight. One of the main people shown in the YouTube campaign is a Uganda child named Jacob. Jacob's brother was abducted and killed by the LRA. The director of the campaign promised Jacob that he would stop Kony. The goal of the Youtube campaign is to stop Kony like promised to Jacob. You may be wondering how could this be achieved? Well, Kony had actually been abducting children for almost 30 years. And until now, nobody really knew about it. This is where the YouTube campaign comes in. When the video was released, in less than two days it went viral. People all over the world began to spread the word. People on Facebook and Twitter were posting, "KONY 2012." This is exactly what the video wanted people to do: shed some light on Kony. Before the Kony issue was uncovered, the U.S. government didn't really do anything to help bring Kony to justice. This is because it didn't really seem like a big enough issue to become involved in at the time. When the video viral and it started to raise...

Kony 2012

...How did the video Kony 2012 by Invisible Children Inc. become so popular within a few days and why was the hype over just as quickly? Abstract This short paper is concerned with the popularity of the video Kony 2012. We will both analyze the popularity of and the criticism on the content of the video, by examining how the video became so popular, focusing on the usage of social media, and how the criticism on the video evolved. Next to the explanation of the popularity of the video and the criticism on the video, we will address the positive and negative aspects of Kony 2012. Introduction There is one video on YouTube, launched on the 5th of March 2012, with more than 93 million views, evidenced to be the “fastest spreading viral video of all time” (Steel in Cavanagh, 2012). This video is named Kony 2012, after the man Joseph Kony, number one criminal in the world (Invisible Children, 2012). Kony 2012 focuses on the war in Northern Uganda, between the Lord’s Resistance Army founded by Joseph Kony and the citizens of Uganda. In 1988, Joseph Kony founded the LRA, with the aim to clean the nation spiritually (Blattman, 2009). Because not many people joined the army by free will, the army started abducting people. When in 1995 the recruitment got stronger and stronger, they started to abduct on a larger scale. From 1995 to 2004 they kidnapped 60,000 to 80,000 younger people (Blattman, 2009). In the video, Joseph Kony is accused of abducting youth, forcing them to kill their parents...

...Alcohol consumption by youth in the United States has been a topic of concern for quite some time now. The law passed down in July, 1984 states, the age of 21 years as the minimum age for purchasing and publicly possessing alcoholic beverages . For this assignment I have chosen to critique a fallacy in the argument regarding the dispute of a decrease of the current age of consumption and purchasing alcohol in the United States. I believe the arguments discussed in the selected article to be fallacious because they deal generally with the positive results portrayed as an outcome in the reduction of the legal age of 21 to 18. Through analysis of this article, it will be evident that a reduced legal drinking age is a fallacious and flawed argument. Through research, I discovered a blog that is proactive with the reduction of the current drinking age. The blog states that once people turn 18 they’re considered adults, they’re responsible, and able to handle themselves. It goes on to explain the fact that once you’re 18 you are able to vote, drive, and make the decision to go to the military “why can they be mature and responsible enough to vote for a person who is going to run our country, mature and responsible enough to fly an airplane and go to war for our country, and third be mature and responsible enough to drive a vehicle”. Though this argument may be true and those responsibilities are substantial, this argument still remains fallacious as a whole. I believe the major fallacy...

Child Soldiers

...March 5, 2012 a viral video project KONY launched pulling in over a million viewers in a matter of a few of weeks (Neylon, 2012) . Helping to raise awareness of child soldering, the KONY project targeted one individual Joseph Kony, a war criminal wanted for many crimes against humanity. In this analysis paper the struggle of child soldiers and how this world wide problem is being handled will be discussed. One question that is often asked is how could this be happening? How is it possible to create a child army? The essence of a child’s innocence can be disfigured into mindless brainwash. “Children affected by armed conflict can be injured or killed, uprooted from their homes and communities, internally displaced or refugees, orphaned or separated from their parents and families, subjected to sexual abuse and exploitation, victims of trauma as a result of being exposed to violence, deprived of education and recreation, at risk of becoming child soldiers.” (Mahcael, 2013) With children being so receptacle to influence due to development not yet reached, it is so much easier to control a child in development rather than an adult that has already achieved a level of independent thinking. Awareness of child soldiers and its effects are being brought to light by various organizations such as Invisible Children and WarChild.org. KONY 2012 which started out as an experiment rallied thousands to Washington DC to discuss what was being done to capture war criminal Joseph Kony and his...

Two Sides to Every Story

...There is always two sides to every story ever told, People have been taught to only observe and understand one side of every story. But only observing one side of a story blocks our way of perceiving a event or action taken. There are many examples of how viewing stories from one side can change our perspective on it such as in children’s books, car accidents, and in the kony 2012 project. Every child has grown up reading both nonfiction and fiction childhood stories. Some with animals singing and others with people becoming a hero to save the day. One famous fiction children story is the story of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf. In most cases the story is told from the pig’s point of view of how the wolf ate two of his brothers and blew down their houses made of straw and wood. The wolf was seen as the antagonist between the two. When reading the book you only got one side of the full story and your perception was the same of the pigs, that the wolf was evil. But only recently have authors published books which tell the story from the wolfs point of view. Which helps you develop your own thoughts on how the event really took place. Based on the wolfs perception of the time of day, how it occurred, and the end result of the story of the three little pigs. In the U.S. there are approximately 6,500,000 car accidents per year, all of which involve two or more people. Based on how the accident happened and if there were any witnesses to the event. Affects rejection...

Classification

...Classification has always been the main source of the simplifying all of the information that has been found throughout the span of human thought. Science in its most basic from is nothing more than just a quest of knowledge “to seek what regularities there may be”(Sagan) and the existence of that knowledge is explained by classification(Foucault). Today’s society is dominated by an absurd amount of technologically powered apparatuses like: cell phones, computers, tablets, tables, cars, and the list ventures endlessly forward and like every “small step for a man, and one giant leap forward for mankind” there are repercussions(The Space Race). One of the things that changed with the evolution of technology from its primitive state to its more modern version is news; once only told by an unbiased, or at least strived to be, newscasters like Walter Cronkite(Cronkite) and people were forced to watch the whole thing until what they were really interested in came on has now turned into an extremely selective and biased way of reporting the news with outstandingly big downsides that has lead society to be harshly less informed about what is going on around them and more susceptible to having their opinion swayed with possible misclassification of news. By the end of 2010 more people claimed to be receiving their news intake from the internet than from newspapers(Featured in Social Media) and with the simplified access to ...

Anne Frank Research Paper

...means that you should always have an open mind and should never judge before you know the facts. There are good people and bad people out there. You are the one who needs to make the choice. The first session I went to was called Writing Resistance: The Diary of Anne Frank and the Legacy of Her Work. Anne Frank was a girl who wants everyone to be peaceful like her. Unfortunately you always have the people that find a way to ruin everyone’s lives. For Anne Frank that guy was Adolf Hitler, an anti Semitic rebel. The second session I attended was Our Liberty id Bound Together. The “LRA” as known as the Lord’s Resistance Army which is a large armed movement of resisters against the Acholi people in central Uganda. This group is led by Joseph Kony. Kony considers himself a spirit medium from god. After going to these sessions it made me think about how good people have it that live in the United States compared to these other countries at war right now. Anne Frank was born on June 12th 1929. She was living in Frankfort Germany in a small Jewish community. Adolf Hitler was raised to power in the beginning of the 1930’s. He formed an organization called the Nazis’. The Natzi organization was aimed toward taking out the Jewish genocide. This was happening because Hitler persuaded the Nazis’ that they were purifying Germany. The disabled and homosexuals would also be killed off. The Frank family moved to Amsterdam the summer of...
