Week 6 case Study 1. How important is the reservation system this system is very important it is because of how quick, easy and convenient it is to the customer especially those that are busy and travel a lot. Before this system the chance for comfort and convenience with seating depended on the attendant. With this system a customer can plan, book and reserve their own tickets also pay all in one step this allows the customer to know where they are seated accommodate their own comfort on the flight. This also allows the customer to shop around for the price they are looking for because they can shop around on different sites for a better deal. This system was a good decision to make on the companies behave and the operation activities run smoother because this system allows the company’s information such as inventory other pertinent information like records are maintained and managed through this system. Because of the communication platform of this system communication between other companies as far as code sharing, plans and or other offices like ticketing booths can access true and accurate information as far as the seat availability for certain dates and the flight load on certain dates. As for the impact it runs easier as far as accounts with other airlines the internal processing that go on amongst the department since all is done online. It has also help with the growth of the company because the customers are happy with this system because as mentioned earlier it allows for faster service and because the system has the capability to access and store past and present information of reoccurring customers it easy to reserve because the information is already stored they don’t have to type it in there information the system of course has lag time which causes some to get frustrated and angered easy and they go elsewhere but it is still all

Beowulf and Superman

...Beowulf &Superman A hero is defined in classical mythology as a man, especially the son of a god and a mortal, who is famous for possessing some extraordinary gift. Beowulf, the title character of an epic poem and Superman, a more modern day hero are both prime examples. Beowulf and Superman exhibit several differences, but they also share some similar qualities. Beowulf possessed great strength that separated him from other men. Being able to use a sword that no ordinary man was able to carry gives the feeling that Beowulf is something more than a human being. It makes him special and causes him to stand out from all other men. Fame is something that makes a hero more noted. Beowulf’s popularity had spread all over the world. He never let this go to his head and he never thought that he was better than everyone else because of it. By engaging in this foolish contest, Beowulf nearly got himself killed trying to prove he was better than Brecca. Jealousy is never a good trait, especially for a hero. Revenge is never a trait of a true hero. A hero has no scores to settle. A true hero should fight only to protect others and not out of his own rage. Also, with Beowulf being a human being, he was not invincible. Beowulf didn’t realize this until he fought the dragon. He knew nothing of the dragon, it’s strengths, weaknesses or powers. Beowulf found out what the dragon was capable of and what its powers were. He knew that it could breathe fire, so he got a shield that...

Plan a 3 Days Vacation

...Planning and preparation is the difference between a wonderful weekend getaway and a disastrous one. When planning a weekend getaway always plan ahead, know how much you want to spend and stick to your plan. After long years of weekend trips I am like the Superman of trips, just because I know the three most important things to plan. First, pick a place that speaks to you and your party, everybody has to enjoy the trip like there is no tomorrow. Find something that is close by and easy to get to, pick a place that is no more than four hours away, if you are going to enjoy your trip, avoid spending your whole weekend travelling. Remember to take into account the time getting back home. Second, Accommodations, if you are going to enjoy your weekend, getting a place close to the action is essential. Whatever you choose, rooming nearby will help you save money and stay close to the action. For example, consider a house on the beach, it could be more expensed but you will save time getting to the beach, paying for parking fees, and a place to leave your belongings and best of all, you have a place with your own bathrooms, clean and private and that is like heaven to me Third, make a list of all the things you need to bring on your trip. No matter how absurd it is to put on your list things like the toothbrush and shampoo, those are the number one things left at home and by experience the first things to buy in a non-schedule trip to the market. Involve every member of your party...

Super Powers

...* Imagine that you could have one super power. What would it be and how would you use it? What would be your kryptonite? The super power I would love to have is teleportation (transfer of matter or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them). Having this kind of power will allow me to think about where I want to be, get dress and be get there in little time. My professors and my parents will never have to worry about me being late to class because it only takes me a split second of a time to arrive. My Kryptonite would be thinking of two places at one time and getting stuck in between walls and dying. As a freshman in college it is so hard to adjust to the college lifestyle so teleportation would be a perfect super power for me. I can imagine myself being in situations like having a 9:00am class, sleeping through the alarm clock, it’s now 8:45am and having little time to get to class. I could jump out of bed, take a quick shower, brush my teeth, and get dress by 8:59am. I would then use my super power teleportation, think about my Finance class and still made it to class at 8:59am… on time! When I get older, complete my college education and retire from my career field in Finance, I would love to start traveling around the world. I would have no more stress about transportation deciding on whether to drive, take the train or taking the plane. Whether I want to go to Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, etc., I can save on my retirement...

Yellow by Nathan Sawaya

...This is one of Nathan Sawaya’s signature piece titled “Yellow”. At a glance, the first words that we think of are ‘yellow’, ‘Lego’ and ‘torn’. However, if we look at this sculpture patiently, then more complicated and abstract words like ‘repent’, ‘suffering’, and “absolvent” come to mind. The reason I found this exhibit so intriguing is because of the world of opposite going on within it. Play bricks or Lego, which are such simple and innocent play toys for children have been used to construct a sculpture which has a very eerie and dark vibe emitting from it. The color ‘yellow’ too, adds to this one of a kind ‘unity in conflict’. One would associate yellow with happiness, laughter and maybe even hope. However, the kinds of emotion and sentiment this sculpture screams out are those of a darker shade like black and maroon. I believe this unison of light and dark elements of the sculpture is what gives it its balanced and at the same time, intriguing appeal. My imagination makes me believe that light plays a very important role in the whole exhibit. Without the lighting, the ‘story’ would be incomplete. The sculpture looks up as if it were reaching out to a higher, more divine entity. There are several interpretations that resonate in the sculpture - A devotee performing a cleansing ritual for the God he believes in, a sinner in the middle of a confession, a commoner trying to relieve himself of stress or maybe even a lover ‘pouring his heart out’ to his long lost love! Imagination...

Marshall Goldsmith

...20th century alone has seen various careers become redundant. A good example would be switchboard operators. Prior to advances in telecommunications an individual would have to manually direct your call by routing you to the intended destination. This once in high demand job is not only unnecessary in the 21st century, but to many degrees extinct. What is the next advance in technology that is going to render job security obsolete in a given field? Autonomous vehicles are still in their infancy, but I don’t believe it far-fetched that these driverless cars will replace the job of taxi drivers. Self-checkout machines are already being implemented taking away the need for cashiers, and the use of email has proven to be the postal services kryptonite. In order to survive in this interconnected world and avoid unemployment, it is necessary to constantly evolve and learn. It is up to the individuals own abilities to adapt and foresee future events that make an entrepreneur successful. Technological advances in every field are leading to the outsourcing of humans for more calculative and tireless machines and software. Our success will be based on continually working to improve our knowledge and becoming adaptable and fluid to unforeseen...

Dark City Film Analysis

...time cross which is reminiscent of the crucifixion of Jesus. As he hangs there the aliens yell out “Kill him!” as they try to steal his soul, which is exactly what similar to the story of Jesus’s crucifixion. Another instance of John’s character being depicted as God or the savior is at the end after he defeats the leader, he takes away the darkness that engulfed his world and restores it with daylight and bringing back the sun and the ocean by simply using his powers as he discharges it in the form of light. In addition, John’s first name is a Biblical reference and his last name Murdoch means protector of the sea, which is interesting because the film makes a lot of references to the sea god, water and how water is the ‘Strangers’ kryptonite, which kind of makes sense for John to wake up in a tub full of water as well as the ‘Strangers’ losing against him. Other than John playing the role of the savior, the role of the messenger is taken on by Detective Walenski, A former policeman who is losing his sanity. He informs John about the ‘reality’ of the city and the powers of the ‘Strangers’. Walenski achieves this title of the messenger due to the fact that the messenger is often the one to inform the protagonist/saviour of the problem they are going to face and guide him throughout the narrative. The Judas within the film is depicted by doctor Schreber. He plays the role of a double agent for the ‘Strangers’, he shows John that he is an ally but eventually betrays him - however...

My Life in Atlanta

...time to meet him. OK. Not exactly. But, I still made it to ATL within six months of my husband (a total stranger back then). Thank you gods. Thank you, Atlanta, for teaching me I would rather live up north after all, despite my lifelong fantasy that the south is my home. You are more of a siren for me, in truth. (No offense). I get caught up in the mossy trees and ghost stories. In the sweet tea and homemade grits. No one provided me with wax in the ears, however, and for that, I am relieved. I picked up a part of myself that had stayed behind in my journey out west years ago. Rather, I think she grew up a bit. She idealizes life a bit less. She lives more in real-time than in the past. She also carries a hefty-size pocketful of kryptonite with her now. Thank you, Atlanta. Thank you, South. You house some beautiful childhood memories and some even more tree-mossy adulthood memories. I am still in love with you, but you were my childhood sweetheart. And...

My Addiction

...I physically could not function in the morning if I didn’t have my trustee espresso machine/ coffee maker combo and the various assortments of roasts and flavors in my cabinet. When mid-day rears its ugly head and I am running on fumes, I know it’s time to prepare my latte with an extra shot. I’ve noticed coffee is a mood enhancer and can actually end wars. The other day, I was arguing with my husband and decided to hold a grudge. All the I’m sorry’s and the kisses that he threw at me could not penetrate my hard shell. Then he dove into his bag o’ tricks and pulled the “What would you like from Starbucks?” card. I knew I was defeated. I tried to resist the urge to smile with every muscle in my coffee fueled body, but that phrase was my kryptonite and he knew it. Coffee has not always been a favorite around my household. I am actually a fairly new member to the club. My husband, for instance, used to hate coffee. The thought and smell would nearly induce vomit. I knew he loved blended ice beverages so I introduced him to the world of frappuccino’s and he was hooked. All of my friends know that the best way to spend some time with me is to meet me for a gab session at the local coffee house. Coffee has even gotten me a job. During an interview, I was trying to find a way to break the ice, so I asked if they liked coffee. Immediately a light shined down from Heaven, sparks flew, and the...

Hero Quest

...Alex Doubl\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\es Lizabeth Thompson \English II [ 11 January 2013 ] Heroes Since time began, people have been creating strong figures to look up to. These figures are known as heroes. The presentation, expectations and qualities of traditional heroes are different than those of modern day heroes, yet all are created in similar ways. Traditionally, past societies and cultures presented their heroes as infallible and set apart from society. Heroes were always expected to help people in distress and in every circumstance conquer their enemy. They were to complete their missions without error and the choices they had to make would be the best for everyone. In the past heroes were better than humans in every way. Heroes were stronger, faster, better looking, more intelligent and indestructible. They also felt that they could perfect the world. Good examples of traditional heroes can be found in Greek mythology. The gods were always watching over the world, but lived on Mount Olympus, separate from society. They helped people in need and were known to be beautiful, cunning and could not be defeated by any mere mortals. Ultimately, traditional heroes were flawless, but as society changed and progressed, so did the heroes. Modern day society views heroes as superhuman, yet relatable and able to fit into society. These modern heroes are expected to uphold a strong moral code...

Greek Heroes Research Paper

...that does something commendable, yet a true hero does not want to be praised for their valor. There are many books and movies based on people with superhuman qualities, and when we read about heroes, they always seem to have one detail in common: supernatural powers or abilities. While it is not currently possible for humans to possess such abilities, society still cannot help but to link those two terms together. For instance, Superman is considered to be the American cultural icon. He was imagined originally in 1933 and was the basis which helped to establish the superhero genre in comic books and movies. Superman was created with the ability to fly, superhuman strength and speed, x-ray vision and invulnerability, with the exception of kryptonite. He is the definition of a superhero, but what he does with his abilities makes him a true hero. These heroes have left legacies behind that have changed the world for the better. In the modern era, we tend to see heroes for what they are: people that were born with, or acquired unrealistic powers, which are then cherished and admired by all. ...
