1. What is the purpose of the address resolution protocol (ARP)?
ARP has the purpose of holding the Ethernet side of information so that the IP address does not have to get utilizes. IT takes say two computers on the same network utilizing the same number in the IP address it can distinguish between computers from the ARP request or the cache that is already there.

2. What is the purpose of the dynamic host control protocol (DHCP)?
The purpose of DHCP is to give out IP addresses. IT is to complete the for say hello system. Where the server says, “Hello are you there?” Than the client responds or does not respond. Than the server utilizes that IP address, also it goes the other way with the client sending, “The hello are you there?” Than the server says yes and use this IP address.

6. Find a TCP 3-way handshake for a telnet, FTP, or SSH session. What is the significance of the TCP 3-way handshake?
“Note that FTP, Telnet, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, IMAP, SSH and any other protocol that rides over TCP also has a three way handshake performed as connection is opened. HTTP web requests, SMTP emails, FTP file transfers all manage the messages they each send. TCP handles the transmission of those messages. TCP rides on top of Internet Protocol (IP) which is why it is called TCP/IP (TCP over IP). TCP segments are passed inside the payload section of the IP packets. Now these protocols handle the messages they send but do not handle the transfer. The transfer is handled by the TCP level where it just transfers the data to the other side of the handshake.
