When thinking of controversies surrounding the Olympics, what usually comes to mind is drug-related abuse, foul play, and the corruptness of the Russian government. And, although all are controversial, when one event triggers a chain reaction showing the underlying issues surrounding men in power abusing power, and how big organizations that put those men in power in the first-place gaslight the victims and silence them, turning their raging waterfall into ambient noise, only then can the severity of the situation(s) become addressed in such a bright light. Larry Nassar was the USA Gymnastic national team doctor, who, over the course of 30 years, molested, and sexually abused more than 250 girls. This is the biggest scandal in the Olympics. The cumulative criminal acts that Larry has done: affecting the lives of over 250 girls, exposing the corruptness of USOC and USAG, with addition to showing the prevalence of sexual harassment and sexual abuse in sports and countless others how great the impact was. The people of today and the people of tomorrow need to understand how greatly he affected those women, and how he is still affecting the future generations of today. …show more content…
