The Hell Debate The debate over the nature of hell is one that can bring out the best and the worst in biblical exegesis. Everyone nowadays is concerned about the enemy (Satan) and delete hell existence. The beginning signs that Jesus is coming soon, frightens the human race. We were taught when God returns, it will be judgment day. John reveals this judgement will take pace during the last days, when God will conquer all who have and would defy him and to rescue the righteous. Judgment meant the outcome of an individual, will they go to heaven with God or to hell with the devil. There are many misconceptions about Hell, rather the lost will burn forever or annihilated. Hell is real.
Universalism believes everyone will eventually be saved, while Christian believe we all will be judged for the deeds we have done. First, the Annihilationist believe that the unrighteous will not suffer eternal torment, but that they will, after being justly punished according to their deeds, be annihilated and cease to exist. Also they believe that hell is eternal in consequence, not duration the wicked shall be no more (Boyd & Eddy). Secondly the classical view states that the wicked will be cast into hell that supports the traditional view they will suffer unending torment The Bible uses a number of expressions to identify the various descriptions of hell. First, know that there is a difference between “hell” and the “lake of fire.” The nature of hell has attributes and characteristics in the Old Testament hell is referred to as “Sheol” which means “the grave” where people go when they die. When the saved and unsaved die, they were said to go to Sheol, a bottomless pit. Hades is another term used for hell. It was said in the book of (Luke 16:4) that the rich man went to hades at death and was tortured with fire. Hell is also described as a place of eternal retribution or eternal punishment. Speaking of the unsaved, Jesus said, “And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal” (Matt. 25:46). The punishment is eternal. Eternity is unfathomable as it challenges the human mind.
We cannot grasp never-ending, but hell will last as long as heaven, for the Word of God describe these opposite concepts as “everlasting punishment” and “life eternal” (Matt. 25:46). Elmer Towns describes “everlasting punishment” used throughout the Bible to identify “duration without end.” He elaborates that eternal retribution would be horrible if we only thought of it as lasting a million years, but because it is eternal, a million years of time could be removed from its duration without in any way affecting the time of its duration. “The worst part of hell is that its inhabitants know it will never end (Towns).” “Eternal” is described by the Hebrew word olam in the Old Testament and the Greek word anon in the New. Both words are linked to God; he is called the “eternal God.” Therefore hell lasts as long as the duration of God.
When the unsaved die they go immediately to a place called hell. Later, the Bible indicates that those in Hell are cast into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:14). Even though they seem to be different places, the inhabitants are the same and the punishment is the same. The place of judgment for the unsaved is called the Great White Throne and the lake of fire follows it. Those who have denied Christ will enter the first punishment, and no one who enters the first hell, can escape entering the second (Rev. 11:15).
Some Christians believe that hell has different degrees (temperature), depending on the sin committed. Therefore, Hell has enlarged herself she opened her mouth wide without measure the great and the lowly and all the drunkard mob will be swallowed up (Isaiah 5:14). Strangely, can one go to hell and reside temporarily to be restored at a later time? In fact, hell would have several rooms made up of the wicked, the evil, and the unbelievers. Some will burn eternal, while others will be punished lightly. This philosophy is rushing roulette with your soul to believe that God has a cooling system for those who will be judged for their deeds juxtapose to the eternal burning in the lake of fire. Everybody wants to go to Heaven no matter what evil or wicked he or she has done. Everyone wants to believe when God returns they are going to heaven, even family members who loved ones has died. The saying “I will see them again in heaven.” Likewise, the Minister that renders the benediction at the funeral leads us to believe the deceased is going to heaven, even if they have lived immoral lives. Hell is avoided over the pulpit, I believe many Pastors, Bishops, and Fathers avoid it in fear of losing their congregants. In view of this misconception there are others who say to themselves, I’m going to Hell playfully or swearing yet they have no clue of the journey that lies ahead of them. No one wants to elaborate on it strong opinions has caused a debate to spill over into a theoretic approach. Here did hell come from, why does hell exist sadly, some people do not believe hell exist. They believe hell was made up to scare the wicked into doing right. As a child hell was used as a weapon if we continued doing wrong that’s where we will be going. The nature of hell is God’s creation originally designed for Satan and his fallen angels. Hell was created for the devil and his demons, not man, God never wanted man to go there in complete torment, extreme pain. (Luke 16:24) it’s a wide gate to hell a broad way and many will take that way, that leads to destruction, outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. But since Man has fallen, it is also a default location. The Bible makes several references to fire while describing the condition of Hell’s torment. It is called a blazing furnace (Matthew 13:42) a lake of fire where no one will ever be consumed but burn forever into eternity(Revelation 20: 15) and a fire that shall never be quenched where the worm never dies. The universal meaning of hell is a place of damnation destruction inescapable for those who continue to live in sin and denies our Lord Savior Jesus Christ. Thessalonian 1:9 verifies Hell last forever, that you will experience eternal separation from God. However the only good thing about hell is it glorifies God’s justice. But many people emphasis hell as a feeling, and figuratively as an expression to rid a confrontation or disagreement gone bad.
Which leads me to believe there is still a chance for me to be redeemed, that God’s grace and mercy is still attainable. John Stott believed int the concept hat the wicked will perish and the

You will see it, smell hell, breathe hell, hear hell, feel hell, you will be hell (Psalms 9:17) Hell is forever. You will be turned into hell (literally be hell) and all the nations that forget God. An everlasting fire believe hell is real. When God returns, which we have heard for year, he is coming back for the righteous and those who have rejected him, and the Word God, will be cast into hell

Challenges in Late Adulthood

...THE CHANGES IN LATER ADULTHOOD VIRGIE BALL WEEK 4 Late adulthood can bring on many changes in your loved one’s life. These changes can range from retirement, physical and mental issues and/or loss of a spouse, children1 or close friend; however, these changes can be very terrifying. Later adulthood can be divided into two groups, the young old which are the ages of 65-74 and many of them still work, travel and have regular social lifestyles. Old old ages 75+ and many struggle with keeping their independence, loss of social interaction, activities and all the medical issues that have arose in their life. These changes can also open the door for many psychological changes, but not all bad. The good changes can lead one to feel free to finally really live their lives and do some of the things they’ve only dreamed of, some call it a bucket list. Others suffer from these changes with worrying, depression and fear which can cause other medical issues such as heart attacks and high blood pressure. Physically, an older adult’s activity level can slowly decrease. Walking can become difficult, eye sight, hear and intellectual functions can change leaving them to lose their presence in society. Older adults can continue to live in their own homes with very little incidents or worries. Others, due to severe medical and/or physical issues will need 24 hour care and assistance. This kind of care and help can either be impossible to provide in the home or very expensive....

Late Adulthood

...Late adulthood (old age) is generally considered to begin at about age 65. Erik Erikson suggests that at this time it is important to find meaning and satisfaction in life rather than to become bitter and disillusioned, that is, to resolve the conflict of integrity vs despair . It has been estimated that by the year 2030, Americans over 65 will make up 20% of the population. Despite the problems associated with longevity, studies of people in their 70s have shown that growing old is not necessarily synonymous with substantial mental or physical deterioration. Many older people are happy and engaged in a variety of activities. Generology, an interdisciplinary field that studies the process of aging and the aging population, involves psychology, biology, sociology, and other fields. People typically reach the peak of their physical strength and endurance during their twenties and then gradually decline. In later adulthood, a variety of physiological changes may occur, including some degree of atrophy of the brain and a decrease in the rate of neural processes. The respiratory and circulatory systems are less efficient, and changes in the gastrointestinal tract may lead to increased constipation. Bone mass diminishes, especially among women, leading to bone density disorders such as osteoporosis. Muscles become weaker unless exercise programs are followed. The skin dries and becomes less flexible. Hair loss occurs in both sexes. There is also decreased sensitivity in all of...

...Late Adulthood and Death Vee Dubb PSY/280 September 8, 2012 Jones Adam Late Adulthood and Death Most people agreed upon that “whatever has a beginning must come to a halt or reaches climax eventually”. The race of one’s life begins at conception in the womb and ends with death. This stage of life is a period of reminiscing, socializing with friends, family especially grandchildren, and maintain a sustainable health as one journey’s to dying. Meanwhile, human growth and development study made us understand that the race of one’s life is in stages from the point of conception to an infant, to a childhood stage, to an adolescent stage, to an adulthood stage, to an elderly, and finally to end of life and the study as well made us understand the extensive changes throughout lifespan; Consequently, it is known the reason why most toddlers says “No”, and why many adolescent pay attention to their body without criticizing any stage of these lifespan stages. The same concept is applicable to elders or late adulthood people and having a discriminatory ideology towards a person because of his/her age or people of late adulthood stage would be considered uncivilized or uneducated act or a novice to the study of human growth and development. Late adulthood can be a challenge because of the signs of aging from middle adult continues and increased as one aged. Late Adulthood

...Late Adulthood Late adulthood is an age that I have not yet reached so in writing this paper I was a bit intimidated because I am not all that knowledgeable on this age group. I do, however, have a lot of respect for this age group because they have been through so much already in their lives and because of this I think that much can be learned from them. These are people such as my grandparents, whom I look up to vastly. Their wisdom is vast and I have learned many things from them. For this interview, I spoke with my Grandmother, Karen. She is 71 years of age. Her health is very good; in fact I forget that she is even 71 years. I would guess her to be early sixty’s. She is very active and has no trouble doing daily activities. During the summer she has a large garden she takes care of herself and she also mows her lawn on her own. All of her senses are still in great condition. She says she does not notice any difference in hearing, smell, or taste. She does wear glasses, but has her entire life. The decline in vision and hearing is greatest in individuals aged 75 years and older (Santrock 343). So, with her exceptional health, she may be good for a while. Her circulatory seems to be in good condition. She has good blood pressure and is at a healthy weight. She smoked for a large portion of her life, but she quit about ten years ago. Her lungs seem to still be pretty strong due to her exercise and high activity. She has no problems with arthritis or...

Erik Erikson suggests at this time in life it is important to find meaning and satisfaction rather than becoming bitter and disillusioned. However this is a time when people start declining physically and mentally. We have seen that, over the course of their lives, most individuals are able to develop secure attachments; reason cognitively, socially and morally. Zimbardo researching how prisoners and guards learned submissive and authoritarian roles. There was an ad placed in the newspaper by Zimbardo seeking male subjects to participate in his research experiment. There was a $15 per day compensation offered to the chosen participants. There were roughly 75 people to respond to the professors ad. However there were only 25 chosen to participate in the experiment needed for a study of prison life. Zimbardo designed his experiment to go the duration of 15 days. The men who were selected to participate in the experiment were separated into two groups, the prisoners in one group, guards in the other. Zimbardo informed them all their rights would be violated and they were to be harassed. Phillip K. Zimbardo’s reason for conducting the Stanford Prison experiment was to expand upon Milgram’s research. It was Zimbardo’s desire to further investigate the impact of situational variables on human behavior. According to Christian perspective with this study we as followers of Jesus Christ should avoid being disrespectful, confrontational and dehumanizing to one another no matter one’s current social situation(s). We should approach one another with an open mind and not judging one another for our sins or wrong doings. Approaching the situations when enforcing rules is one thing but to put one...

Late Adulthood and Death

...Late Adulthood and Death Paper Late Adulthood and Death The final years of an individual's lifespan mark the time for reflection of one's life while also spending time with family, including grandchildren, and maintaining physical and mental health throughout the entire stage of late adulthood. Quality of life in late adulthood is determined by genetics, the modification of destructive lifestyles and behaviors, and selecting healthier options not only throughout the earlier stages of development but especially in this stage for improvements to health and having an overall sense of well-being (Berger, 2009). Remaining socially active and independent for as long as possible instead of succumbing to isolating is key during this stage of adulthood (Berger, 2009). In the stage of late adulthood living socially active, healthy, and physically active lives while maintaining important family roles is very important , which illiminates some stressor of aging that may be brought on by negative and stereotypical thoughts of ageism which will assist in their premature decline. High quality medical care assisted by technology can provide aging adults comfort knowing they are helping to protect and safeguard younger generations as science learns from the older generations. ...Late Adulthood and Death Danielle Tate Psy 280 Debra Julian February 22, 2015 Examine ageism/stereotype When you consider ageism, you think about people being labeled as other's sees fit. It's just another term to judge or deny people of their humanity. When you think about people in their late adulthood what comes to mind? Some may think about gray hair, saggy skin, dentures, and a wheelchair. So my question is why? According to (Palmore, 2005, p. 90) “Ageism is a social disease, much like racism and sexism” in that it considers people as part of a category and not as individuals, creating “needless fear, waste, illness, and misery.” The more people grow and develop, they will learn that aging must go on. Promoting health and wellness As you age, the rate of your heart slows down, making the blood vessels in the arteries stiffen that cause the heart to work harder to pump blood. There are many ways to promote heart health. You can start by making physical activity a daily routine. When your body is in motion, it prevents high blood pressure, so blood vessels want to stiffen. Eating a balanced meal and getting the proper amount of rest are also important. To mitigate the adverse effects of aging, stay socially and mentally active to prevent memory loss. According to Alzheimer’s Association 2015, eighty-one percent of people age seventy-five in older declines in memory. Late Adulthood and End of Life

...Late Adulthood and End of life PSY/375 Late Adulthood and End of Life There are numerous changes that take place during different stages of development from a child to an adolescent and beyond to adult. Changes in development in late adulthood are not as progressed as in the earlier stages of life (Preisser, 1997). Developmental stages in one’s life are an important part of the journey of life. Discussion on the end of one’s life is not a pleasant one, but it is something that everyone has to go through when it is the end of one’s life span and developmental process. Psychologist Erikson, expressed that the stages of life is a journey and when one reaches late adulthood, he or she comes to terms that his or her life path is at its end (Preisser, 1997). Erikson expressed that when one reaches late adulthood to accept his or her life and look at life in a positive manner. Integrity not despair is this stage of development according to Erikson. When an individual has a sense of integrity he or she is fully accepting his or her self, accomplishments, and can come to terms with mortality (Preisser, 1997). Once an individual can accept responsibility for what he or she achieved in life and undo any negative feelings on what his or her life portrayed this is the essential part of life. There are some individuals who have skepticism or misery over what he or she accomplished or did not accomplish in his or her life, and his is a result of thoughts of despair. When...
