Latino Student Alliance (LSA)

When beginning college at UWSP I was terrified as a Puerto Rican going into a predominantly Caucasian school and city. My greatest fear was losing the connection I had to my culture. In an attempt to remain close to my culture and continue to use my Spanish in my everyday life I joined the club known as LSA. This stands for Latino Student Alliance a place where I know I could bond with those who were like me. Unfortunately I was wrong because the amount of Puerto Rican people that live in this city can be counted with one hand. Consequently this affects the club greatly as a majority of its members are Mexican so a majority of the events revolve around Mexican culture. This semester so far I have participated and helped coordinate various events.
