Design a Flowchart for a Process

• Select a process that you do every day but would like to spend less time doing, such as driving to work.

I have selected the process of laundering as illustration of flow chart.

• Design a flowchart using an appropriate tool. The instructor is more concerned with your ability to explain how process design works and why it’s valuable than with fancy graphics

I have used the features of Microsoft Word to design the flowchart.

Flowcharts are valuable than fancy graphics as it represents the systematic flow of logic to all the involved members in effective manner. It can also be referred again and again to understand the system as documentation allows keeping the blueprint of design for analysis in the development of system.
• Comment on the factors that affect the process design.

The factors that affect the process of design in laundering are right temperature, quality of cloths and adequate water in the tub. It acts as decisive factor is execution of steps.

Following are the steps involved in laundering the cloths:

(1) Sort the cloths for white, bright and dark colors.

(2) Check the pockets of sorted cloths and empty it.

(3) Read the product label to follow the instructions.

(4) Measure the right amount of detergent.

(5) Pour the detergent into washer.

(6) If liquid fabric softener is required, add it else go to step 7.

(7) Choose the water temperature as per instruction of washing machine instruction.

(8) If cloths are sensitive to temperature, then go to step 9 else go to step 12.

(9) Select cold water.

(10) If cloths are durable fabrics like cotton, then go to step 11 else go to step 12.

(11) Select hot water.

(12) Choose the laundry cycle.

(13) If it is delicate fabrics, then go to step 14 else go to step 15.

Aph Maternity Patients Flow Chart

...TUI UNIVERSITY Module 2 Case Assignment Intro to Operations Management Dr. Bowersox 26 October 2012 As Diane’s new assistant just looking at the way they have the flow of the mother that is in labor is confusing. There are too many floors for the Labor and Delivery process which has the mother bouncing all over the hospital.  If the pregnant mother is in distress she has to be moved to too many different floors. By moving the mother to all the different floors it could risk valuable time. I would suggest reorganizing one specific floor of the hospital for Labor and Delivery only. By having only one floor would help speed up the process for the delivering mothers. The way I would adjust the flow chart for women that are delivering via caesarean section would skip step one and go straight to step seven.   I would do this because a mother that knows she’s having a caesarean section delivery would know the exact date of the delivery. She would have pre-registered prior and be ready for her operation when she walks into the hospital. Once the operation is complete with no complications, then step 6 would be next.   After monitoring the mother and newborn then step 8 would be the next step. The mother would be extremely happy to be discharged with her new baby. If all mothers were electronically preregistered the flow chart would change. It would eliminate the need to register the day of the delivery and allow a smoother transition to the delivery......

Laundry Soap

...Abstract Laundry soap is needed by everybody. Whether they buy laundry soap or they buy the products needed to make it at home, they will still always use it to wash towels, blankets, clothes, pillows, sheets, etc. In this market, the products are and will continue to grow and the products may change as the times change. Laundry Soap Introduction The laundry soap and soap industry has over six hundred and fifty companies. Dial, Palmolive-Colgate, and Proctor and Gamble are just a few major companies that are included in the top fifty major companies. This list of major companies make about twenty-seven billion dollars a year, or about ninety percent of the total revenue. Market Force 1: Economic Environment While the economy is slowly trying to pick itself back up, we are still in a recession. There are still a ton of unemployed people, people losing their jobs or being laid off, etc. Because of our recession, any company that manufactures laundry soap has to continuously adjust and/or create new marketing strategies. The laundry detergent industry is affected as well as many other companies. If people do not have the funds to spend on any product, it may case the companies to drop their prices down. Another way the companies try to make it more affordable for consumers is to offer coupons, sales, or even rebates, whether it is a mail in rebate or an automatic rebate at the time of purchase. All of these things also help in promoting their products. A marketer...

Flow Chart Process

...Flow Chart for Process Christie Losch OPS 571 January 21, 2011 John Sobel Flow Chart for Process A person that wakes up each morning and hits the ground running and I have so much in common. On a daily basis I look for ways to improve my time management. Each and every day I wake up at the break of dawn and prepare my day for a long and strenuous workdayand not to mention my second job as a single-parent. The responsibility that lies on my shoulders is tough and can be overwhelming. I have chosen to design a flow chart to outline my routine in the evenings after work until bedtime. The time spent in traffic getting home, time spent doing homework, and cooking and are factors that can be shortened in my routine. The process flow of the routine begins with getting from work and driving home . My commute to and from work has many obstacles as it relates to traffic during those times. My work schedule cannot be manipulated for ease in the morning or the afternoon. Once my kids are picked up from school and we reach home then the process gets a little bit more stringent. Homework for a small child in elementary school is tough on them and the parents. The next step comes cooking, and then putting food after dinner, cleaning the kitchen can take some time. [have not included end of the process flow – getting ready to bed] The metric is time in this flow chart. I wish there was some way that the time spent doing homework, cooking......

Production Flow Chart Paper

...Flowchart Paper Assignment Sodney Theodore University of Phoenix Operations Management Abstract This paper will underline a flowchart of Bimbo Bakeries USA production process and how the business operates on a day-to-day basis. There will also be a metric chart that will show the amount of time it takes for each process to be completed within the production process. A short description of Bimbo Bakeries will also be addressed in this paper as well. Bimbo Bakeries is an International manufacturing company who specializes in producing products such as, Thomas muffins, Entenmanns cakes, and etc. They’re also one of the largest bakeries in the world, and they have bakeries in over a hundred countries. Bimbo has also purchased companies such as, Sara Lee and Hostees, they are expanding very quickly in the U.S. and around the world. Process The process that I perform on a daily basis at work is mixing, which is the second step in the process of producing muffins. Currently, in order to load the ingredients into the mixer, is manually. This concept to me takes up more time to complete, and I think there’s a faster way to complete this step. The type of process for this chart will be a multistage because it has many steps to complete within the process of production. According to the text, “A multiple stage process has multiple groups of activities that are linked through flows( Chase,Jacobs,Aquilano 2006)”. Metric Measure Performance Efficiency ......

Laundry

...The Filipinos are among the people who value cleanliness next to godliness. They are keen when it comes to cleanliness. Majority of the Filipino households follow regular routines of cleaning up daily in order to avoid infectious diseases. It is important to keep the household running smoothly and germ-free. However, doing household chores has been an aspect of life that most people do not enjoy, but has to be done. Some people even hire home cleaning services while others undure it by themselves. In today's busy world, balancing priorities in life while having quality time with the family as one on top is quite challenging. The twenty four hours seems isn’t enough to finish all the demands of the day. This dilemma calls for time management. A typical Filipino must have time for work, for a break, and for boundless tasks at home. One of these never ending household chores is laundry. Historical dates show that laundry was originally not done at home. People in the ancient times did their laundry in streams and rivers. As time goes by, laundry was moved in-house and there have been improvements on how people wash their clothes. Washing machines were then invented, and these machines make laundry more convenient and at home. But as peoples’ life change in response to the fast growing technology, many of them haven't have the time to do their laundry, since it is still time-consuming even with the help of machines. Most people think that the time for laundry can be......

...Raj. Patel Comp1 Drafting essay week_3 Buying a Car Purchasing a vehicle can be real helpful for transportation. There are a lot of people out there that have no vehicle that are struggling to get where they want. That’s why buying a car is important to me because I remember when I didn’t have a car, I would always have to take the bus or ask a friend for a ride. I have always liked cars ever since I was a little kid. I like everything about cars. There are a lot of different things about different cars that you would have to look into before purchasing your vehicle. When I was seventeen I already had bought my first car. I had a 1998 ford escort station wagon. I bought that car for $800. The car was in a great condition but it was pretty old. That car was lucky for me because I passed my driving test in that car the very first time I took it. My family was also driving that car to go to work and for personal use. I had to put money into it to keep it running. That car lasted us about five years. Then we had to get rid of the car because the condition of the car was terrible. The second time I bought I car I knew I couldn’t buy a used car, so I was looking around for low mileage cars for cheap and great condition. I did a lot of research after all the research I came up with a great plan. I thought about buying a brand new car but I knew that was out of my budget. During the Christmas break in 2013 I went to the Nissan dealership near my house looking for good...
