Children should only have two parents: A mother, and a father. Life is always worth the effort. Life is not always easy. Jesus said: “Suffer the little children to come to me.” Family time is important and should be respected. Amen.

Cheryl A. Esplin
The Lord instructs children and adults. “Give me understanding, yea, I will obey.” Our children will be taught with care, and understanding. They will become a part of a family solution. I am a child of God. Amen.

Alka Seltzer Experiment

...For this experiment, students were tasked with the question, “What variable has the greatest influence on the distance that an Alka Seltzer can travel?” Children were broken up into groups and an example was shown to display directions, firstly, one must have a weight scale, a petri dish, several packets of Alka Seltzer tablets, a PVC Elbow, water, a film canister, ice and heaters, along with tarp and meter sticks. Using the tarp and meter sticks, one would set up a station to measure the distance the lid of the canister would go, ranging from 0-700 centimeters. Next, one would add a said amount of water into the film canister, and set the film canister into the PVC Elbow, and angle it on a flat meter stick to have the Elbow at 45 degrees. After words, one would apply a tablet of Alka seltzer into the canister of water, and tightly put the lid on and wait. In a random amount of time, the lid would eject and go a certain distance. Several times this would be repeated, with different variables and controls for each. Among variables, there was water volume, mass of the Alka Seltzer, and the temperature of the water. The controls for water volume, include: Keeping the temperature at 20-25 degrees celsius, and having the mass of the Alka seltzer remain at approximately 2.2 grams. Controls for Alka seltzer mass included: That the water temperature be between 20-25 degrees celsius, and that the water volume be at 15 milliliters. The final controls for water temperature are: The water...

Knowledge management can be instrumental in developing individual and organisational responses to operational risk, which reflects the ‘consequential’ risks associated with being in business at all. The ability to handle operational risk in a global business depends on highly effective knowledge circuits. These circuits can be supported by information and technology systems but are fragile, need constant attention and depend largely on the capacity of individual professionals to work collectively in pattern recognition, analysis and predictive approaches and to form open channels of communication, bonds of trust and...

Stereotyping

...Stereotyping Abstract Stereotyping is a general opinion regarding traits of particular groups as a whole. In stereotyping there is no room for individuality, only assumption based on the groups traits. A common stereotype in Utah involves the Mormon religion and the assumption that anyone from Utah is Mormon. Studies indicate there are not nearly as many Mormons in Utah as most people think. When developing stereotypes, one must be able to recognize traits and characteristics of a group. Stereotypes are not permanent and do have the potential to be changed. This process does take time since they are developed through experiences and observation. Individuals are not always aware of their participation in the use of stereotypes. Many people associate individuals with them unconsciously. Stereotypes are not always negative and can often benefit social situations when used in a positive manner. Stereotyping A stereotype is a belief developed regarding people in general. These beliefs result in categorizing people based on assumptions and the beliefs do not allow for individuality. Stereotypes can be positive or negative depending on the situation. These beliefs result from consistent traits that are noticeable in a group and which are easily recognizable. Stereotypes can be changed, but this can take a great amount of time and convincing. Many people have opinions related to stereotypes without the realization...

Religious Discrimination in Hiring

...Running Head: RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION IN HIRING Religious Discrimination in Hiring Religious Discrimination in Hiring The initial concept for this paper was to research and examine reverse discrimination in hiring practices by businesses owned by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in Utah County. I was trying to find research regarding LDS member owned businesses and preferential treatment to other LDS members when hiring. Through the process of this research I realized that my question was skewed, it wasn’t reverse discrimination at all. The population of Utah County consists of 97.5% members of the LDS church, and 88.7% of the population adheres to the LDS church (The Association of Religion Data Archives, 2010). In this context I will examine the preferential hiring practices of adherent religious member owned businesses when recruiting potential employees. Religion is a protected class, and discrimination of a protected class is a primary concern for the human resource industry. The importance of discrimination laws to human resources comes from a number of reasons: Out of motives ranging from concern for fairness to the desire to avoid costly lawsuits and settlements, most companies recognize the importance of complying with these laws. Often, management depends on the expertise of human resource professionals to help in identifying how to comply. (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, & Wright, 2011, pp. 72-73) A company found in violation...

The question is whether or not this new faith group was any different. How did treatment of African Americans among the Saints differ from that of the general population of the United States during the period from 1830, the church’s founding, to the end of the century? What was the LDS church’s position on slavery and did practice follow policy among members of a church founded on the principles of “faith, hope, and charity”?[ii] And, how was the view towards and treatment of free colored persons different that that toward slaves? The Contemporary view The treatments of African Americans in the United States varied throughout the general population. ...SIAM J. IMAGING SCIENCES Vol. 1, No. 3, pp. 248–272 c 2008 Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics A New Alternating Minimization Algorithm for Total Variation Image Reconstruction∗ Yilun Wang†, Junfeng Yang‡, Wotao Yin†, and Yin Zhang† Abstract. We propose, analyze, and test an alternating minimization algorithm for recovering images from blurry and noisy observations with total variation (TV) regularization. This algorithm arises from a new half-quadratic model applicable to not only the anisotropic but also the isotropic forms of TV discretizations. The per-iteration computational complexity of the algorithm is three fast Fourier transforms. We establish strong convergence properties for the algorithm including finite convergence for some variables and relatively fast exponential (or q-linear in optimization terminology) convergence for the others. Furthermore, we propose a continuation scheme to accelerate the practical convergence of the algorithm. Extensive numerical results show that our algorithm performs favorably in comparison to several state-of-the-art algorithms. In particular, it runs orders of magnitude faster than the lagged diffusivity algorithm for TV-based deblurring. Some extensions of our algorithm are also discussed. ...Introduction: The study aims at analyzing influence of different learning style in acquisition of upper intermediate Bangladeshi EFL learners. A two-phase interview was conducted in which Phase One included a self-created general questionnaire that was used to identify learner's profile, learning history and linguistic background. Phase Two consists of focused questions which are prepared by emphasizing on learning style, learning process, learning aid, learning environment and emotional state which help acquire language skills. In the processes of analyzing, researcher used a self-created questionnaire to find out what type of learner the interviewee is. Phase One interview took place at 3 p.m. August 2, 2014 at interviewee's residence at Banani, Dhaka. The researcher came to know about the interviewee Rameesa Y Chowdhury through a friend of her. Rameesa is her friend's cousin and she met her at her friend's place. After being informed about her educational background and proficiency level, researcher became interested in interviewing her. She made a call to her showing keen interest to take her interview. Rameesa happily agreed and said when she would be remained free to give interview. The Researcher also informed her that the interview would not have conducted in specific time and she can take as much as she needed for answering each question and the information that she provides through giving answers in interview will be audio recorded.
