On November 6, 2012, voters in Colorado and Washington made momentous and almost entirely novel choice to legalize and regulate recreational marijuana use.

In spite of clear conflict with Federal drug laws; the voting majorities in Colorado and Washington , decided that their states should lead the way through experimentation.

On July 8th, 2014, Washington State opened it's first recreational stores. Their sale portions, would fund research on reform's effects. the state built test equipment starting day one with a dedicated funding stream to provide continuity and political independence. attempting to create a multifaceted picture, that is taking place across multiple state agencies including DSHS ,the department of health, and liquor control board just not relying on one point of view or information source but focusing on a wider spectrum of the issues that can help focus discipline for the political debate. policymakers seek to empower themselves proactively regulating legal marijuana; nevertheless, inform and influence the informational battles that will surround legal marijuana.

can you say economic benefits, Washington state will bring in nearly $50 million in new taxes, initially proceeds being used to better education, such as , new schools, higher teacher salaries, extra school activity's, and school based clubs. legalized marijuana frees up law enforcement to seek out more destructive illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine. legalized marijuana will help by reducing funds used to enforce against marijuana by $17 billion a Cato institute study reveals. producing public health benefits with legalization. eventually eliminating the entrepreneurs that are set up in the 48 other states that are selling recreational marijuana that is illegal.

policymakers either need to ban everything that is bad for us in all fairness. from fat-filled fast food to sugar saturated soda or allow us to make adult decisions about what we put in our bodies. making cigarettes, beer, whiskey legal, while banning joints and hash brownies, unfairly favors the makers of certain harmful products. fairness, too, justifies legalizing cannabis. in the 48 states where recreational use of marijuana, smoking tobacco, which causes cancer, is legal by contrast, smoking weed, which is used to treat the symptoms of cancer treatment, is not. moreover, some experts believe that alcohol, which s legal in virtually all parts of the united states, is more harmful then then marijuana, which is illegal in almost all of the country.

the legal status of a drug has dramatic impact on it's use. why is it in our states interest to see marijuana use climb? since when is smoking a program that we promote? we cannot ignore the negative effects that legalization would have on under-age use and addiction, highway safety, treatment costs, mental health problems, emergency room admissions, workplace accidents and productivity, and personal health.

in this writer's opinion I see beneficial situation that involves education, educating, freed up tax payer's monies, taxable merchandise, and that go's hand in hand whit and open mind. not all things appear in proper focus, that's why we as free people must try different avenues to seek out information that could benefit us and are neighbors.the positives greatly outweigh the negatives. my final thought is to say " put it in a pipe and smoke it! " and if not at least you have the choice legally.

Did Legalizing Abortion Reduce Crime Rate in the Us

...| | When compared to other industrialised countries the US has one of the most significant homicide rates and crime rates. According to statistics published by the UN in 2010 the probability of being of a homicide victim is more than five times greater in the US than in the Netherlands and close to three times greater than in Canada. However in spite of these statistics and contrary to general public perception the United States have experienced a continued decline of its crime rates since the second half of the 1990’s. In 2010 there were 5.4 homicides per 100,000 persons compared to 9.8 in 1991 at its peak according to the US Bureau of Statistics (2004). Similarly, other statistics[1] published annually by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Justice statistics[2] have highlighted that violent crimes and property crimes rates have gradually declined, on average, in the US from their height in the beginning of the 1990’s to a low point in 2004 and continues to further decrease in spite of the current economic crisis. One would have expected that the recession would have ended this virtuous circle but instead “crimes of violence began going down in 2007, falling 0.7 percent that year and then an additional 1.9 percent in 2008. The trend accelerated [in 2009] with a 5.5 percent reduction in overall crime ...” (Jerry Markon, The Washington Post...

Marijuana in Criminal Justice

...William Emker Intro to Criminal Justice Professor Rosen 05/02/2011 Marjuana in the Criminal Justice System Should the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes be legalized? Wouldn’t it be simple to provide a simple black or white answer to this question? Across the nation there is much debate on this very topic, one that I don’t believe can be solved so easily with a yes or no. There are so many activists that have strong opinions on this subject and go to the fullest extent to ensure they are heard. As simple and straightforward as this question is it was hard for me to determine which side of the line I stood on. After reading all of the articles and much research on the issue I find myself leaning toward allowing medicinal marijuana use. By allowing medicinal marijuana use there are going to have to be many precautions taken to ensure that such a non-traditional controversial medicine is not abuse as many people will try to take advantage of the situation. Racism played a key role in the illegalization of marijuana in the early 1900’s. Harry Anslinger, Commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, said, “Marijuana is the most violence causing drug in the history of mankind. Most marijuana smokers are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes.” (4) He used this sort of propaganda to get a racist America behind his...
