Oh-no! The daunting feeling of hiring new employees to come work for your business is somewhat a nightmare for most employers. I was a retail manager for an optical chain (LensCrafters) in the state of Michigan for two years. My general manager despised conducting interviews merely because she felt the interviewing process was daunting, people are not always what they appear to be after hiring them, and she believed that she was too intimidating.
However, I found the hiring process not to be daunting, a nightmare or an unpleasant situation at all. Better, yet, searching for the best hire to work for your business is rather simple. I mentioned earlier that one of the reasons why my ex-general manager dislikes interviewing is because she feels people are not always what they appear to be. When interviewing candidates in three different locations, it will help you as the interviewer to decipher whether or not they have given you false pretenses (Tracy & Thompson). Thus, also, seeing how the candidates act in different environments as well. And lastly, have three different people from your management team interview the candidates as well (Tracy & Thompson). When I interviewed, at the Veteran Affairs for a supervisor position in their Ophthalmology department, I was interviewed not only by two managers, also, by the Ophthalmic Technicians, I would be supervising as well. This way of interviewing will boost the morale of your employees, and the employees will feel more a part of the team (Tracy & Thompson). In general, when it comes to figuring out the best way to hire the best candidates, keep it simple. Hiring can be challenging for most employers, but, yet, rewarding as well.
