Re: Hire Diverse Cultured Faculty and Technical Staff
Purpose
We propose that the university must hire more faculties from cross cultural societies at American University of Kuwait. This will encourage students from different societies to take an admission in AUK and consequently it will improve the university rating, profits and reputation. Secondly, the upgraded system of technology within University requires more qualifies technical staff so that to share the workload in an efficient manner. The human resource department of American University of Kuwait must plan to hire more faculties before September 2012 so that to include the fresh hiring in the new program.
Problem with Current policy
Being the students from different societies, it is our basic need that our culture must be respected. Moreover, we must have awareness about the culture of our co-fellows. As according to the current policy of American Universities, students are treated in an American fashion. They are taught about American customs and their norms. It is for this reason that most of the teachers are from America; thus making the rule of an American culture. Due to this selective hiring of faculties, students from other societies don’t get satisfied with the teaching methods and the course work.
Secondly, there are librarians of the same culture and religion in the University. They are unable to maintain the high class collection of books, sources and links of other societies. A single person maintains the collection of books of all departments that is language, technical subjects or social sciences.
The third problem that pertains in the university is that currently there are only about few technical teachers in the university who are sharing the burden of the whole students’ population. The university has made a wrong estimation of required technical staff but actually it needs to hire many more information technology experts so that not only burden could be shared but also advancements can be made. It is very important to emphasize on the information technology department so that to compete with the current technology needs. Without advance systems of technology, university would lag far behind other universities.
A solution to the problem
As per the results of the survey carried within the university, majority students wants to learn about different religions i.e. Christianity, Judaism and Islam; moreover they also wants to learn the cross cultural languages that can open the paths of their career across the world. It is therefore important that the students must be taught by the teacher who belongs to the same culture. But since university have the majority American staff so it is very important for the institute to hire the cross cultured staff members who can improve and even changes the university faculty culture.
In addition to the cross cultured teaching staff, it is also important that the university hire cross cultured university librarians who can maintain the right collection of books and sources regarding every culture.
Secondly, a well maintained technology system in the university not only improves the standard of education but also raises the ranking and repute of the institute. It is possible only if there are enough IT faculty and staff members to maintain the system and efficiently take over the burden. It is therefore important for the university to hire efficient, skilled and knowledgeable faculty. University must advertise for the need of technical staff and other culture faculty as soon as possible so that the new faculty can take part in the improvements of university. Moreover, investments are required to further upgrade the technological standard.
Considering the effective means of improving the standard of education and thus raising the ranking of university should be of prime importance for the organization. Hiring faculty as according to the need will: * Help students learning in a better way * Saves time of students * Opens new doors of success for the students * Improve university profits and ranking * Diverse faculty staff and students will improve the standard of education
Feasibility
It is feasible to hire faculty from different cultures since there are already students from various countries and cultures in the university. Diverse faculty is not going to create any problem as teachers are already habitual of teaching students from various cultures. The library staff and technical staff would be rather advantageous for the senior faculty since they will share the responsibilities and work in a better way for the organization. Moreover, the senior technical staff can also learn about the latest trends and advancements through the young team of workers.
Costs
Though hiring qualified and skilled staff would highly increase the costs but on the other end it is also going to improve the standard of education. Though other costs like technology equipment and collection of new books will give the tough time in start but soon University will enjoy the rewards. Hiring some of efficient faculty staff would bring high amount of profits though new admissions and increased popularity of the institute.

Conclusion
Hiring efficient and qualified faculty members would help the university in various aspects. Reduce the complaints of students, improves the standard of education, increase profits and eliminating the impression of favoured cultured hiring.
