Benefits of Self Evaluation

...Behavior is critical to organizations. Benefits of self-evaluation/self- assessment as it relates to leaders today. Leadership is all about people. Effective leaders have strong ability to create a compelling vision and lead people to the achievements of goals. Irrespective of whether you are an experienced leader or new and feeling uneasy in a leadership role, one of the key knowledge one should possess is knowledge of self. Leaders are influential. This fact makes the understanding of how exactly the leader effects his followers a vital part for the leader’s and organization success. Knowing oneself is the first step to such understanding. Thomas Green

...boss, did not intend to choose Green as the new senior market specialist. Green and Davis disagreed on work styles and market projections. Green believed that the sales goals set by Davis are based on "creative accounting" and he grossly overstated the existing market environment. A mood of silent conflict developed quickly between them. Davis was very unhappy about Green’s performance and working attitude even after three months of his promotion. Green was concerned that Davis was building a case to fire him. Green, after learning that Davis had sent a mail to McDonald regarding his performance, was very worried about the situation and did not know how he should explain his perspective to McDonald. In order to salvage his professional carrier, Green could either compromise by changing his work style and working in conformity with Davis’ requirements or escalate to McDonald the problems and concerns faced by him and prove his point with credible data. We recommend that Green should choose to compromise as he was appointed as senior market specialist despite being less experienced. He was also under heavy financial burden. In order to become a successful manager, he should learn to deal with this kind of situations in his professional life. Contents 1. SITUATION ANALYSIS 5 2. PROBLEM STATEMENT 6 3. OPTIONS 6 4. Vark Learning Styles

...VARK Analysis Every one has a mix of learning styles; some people may find that they have a dominant style of learning, with far less use of other styles in different circumstances. There is neither right or wrong style nor your style is fixed, you can develop your less dominant style and make improvement in your dominant ones. Your learning styles have more influence on your learning than you know it, they guide the way you learn. They also change the way you retain information and perceive experiences internally ("Overview of Learning Styles," n.d). Individuals have pathways that are specific to them, when information enters those pathways the information is retaining in short-term memory. Repeated exposure and use, promote retention in long-term memory. ("What Makes Perceptual Styles a Different Way of Learning." n.d) According to VARK questionnaire, I am a multimodal learner, who learns with two or more ways of learning, in my case I learn with (ARK) aural, means by listening, reading/writing, and kinesthetic, means using my other senses like manipulating and experimenting. Even though I learn, in so many different ways, my preferred style is to read and write and I use the other strategies as the additional support for my enhanced learning experience, which sounds very true because I like to read books and do some research before I attend class. I take notes in points, record the lecture on the recorder so I can hear it again. In addition, I learn by discussing with people...

...classroom in relation to the diverse perspectives of participants in this case Problem What are the good basis and underpinnings in order to effectively evaluate a teacher’s instructional management strategy in the classroom? Areas of Consideration Classroom management is vital to achieving positive educational outcomes. Organization and behavior management in the classroom provide students with structure, which promotes learning. On the other hand, evaluating teacher classroom performance is an integral part of school supervision and contributes to the on-going mission of the educational institution. Teacher evaluations, when properly facilitated, function as professional measurement that encourage excellence, offer praise for good methodologies and strategies, and highlight areas that need upgrading. If conducted properly, teachers should view evaluations as necessary addition to daily instructional routine with an end result focused on collaborative means to teach more effectively. In this case, an evaluator questions a classroom teacher’s instructional management strategies when she applies for a permanent teaching credential. This issue reveals the underpinnings of tensions between the teacher and the evaluator in this case, noting conflicts that expose the helplessness of a new teacher, who is experiencing isolation in her early years of teaching. The key issues here are the teaching strategies, relationship with students and colleagues, new teacher support and...

...LO#1: Understanding learning theories and learning styles. 1.1. Comparing different learning styles: The term “learning styles” speaks to the understanding that every individual learns differently. Technically, an individual’s learning style refers to the preferential way in which the student absorbs, processes, comprehends and retains information. For example, when learning how to build a clock, some individuals understand the process by following verbal instructions, while others have to physically manipulate the clock themselves. This notion of individualized learning styles has gained widespread recognition in education theory and management strategies. One of the most accepted understandings of learning styles is that the individual learning styles fall into three categories : 2. Auditory learning : Auditory learners best understand new content through participating, listening and speaking in situations, such as lectures or group discussions. 2.
