The death toll in the drug war reaches 6,844 in 2008 (CNN Library). The head of Los Zetas and head of Beltron were killed in gun battle in 2009 (CNN Library). High ranking members of Beltron, Gulf, Los Zetas, and Sinaloa are arrested or killed in 2010 (CNN Library). One of original founders of Los Zetas is captured, but FBI, CIA, ICE, and Navy members are killed by Los Zetas in 2011 (CNN Library). Four of Los Zetas’ high ranking enforces were captured by marines. Afterwards, the new leader of Zetas is killed in big shoot out with rival cartel and US marines. As a results the Zetas power is weakened (CNN Library). All of this occurred in 2012.

In 2013, a man in the US spoke out against the cartels’ ruthlessness and evil acts after his daughter was sold as a sex slave or trophy wife to the cartel. Los Zetas warned him to stop talking, but he got on national tv and told them he will not be silenced until he finds out the fate of his daughter. Los Zetas then sent a hit squad after his family to silence him, but the hit man was stopped and captured by FBI agents. After that man spoke out against the cartel, many people who were silenced came to surface, telling their stories of their missing loved ones -- people who were abducted and killed by the cartel. This raised more awareness and forced US authorities to get involved more with Mexico's drug and crime problems.
Most of the victims from the US are tourists, visiting Mexico for vacation, visiting family, or celebration of Cinco de Mayo. All these lead to the victims’ untimely demises. They may be robbed, killed, raped, sold as a sex slave or trophy wives, and forced to join a drug cartel …show more content…

...Ciudad Juarez is known as one of the most violent cities in Mexico. The drug cartels have taken over the city and have continued to control the city. The city officials have been defeated over and over again; hopeless they still search for new ways to win this ongoing war. Using technology in the United States has become a crucial part of it's survival, since our failure to use intelligence properly in the attack of nine-eleven. In the 1970 the Colombian cartels transported the cocaine shipment either by plane or by sea. The United States with the use of radar could easily track them and confiscate their shipment. In the drug cartel technology usage will be used in the measure intelligence it is “investigating illegal drug trafficking” .
