Teen Activist Report A teen activist puts all their effort into their cause. They work to make the world a better place. Did you know that 3.2 billion animals are adopted each year? Teen activists whose causes are on animal abandonment do their best to make these numbers rise, such as Bianca V., Faye Carey, and Lou Wegner.
Bianca V. is a teen activist who devotes her time to helping animals. At age fourteen Bianca attended YEA in 2010. YEA stands for Youth Empowered Actions. After one week at YEA she started Hearts for Animals. Bianca said that her time at YEA, was the best time of her life. The first year of Hearts for Animals they raised over $1,000 for their local animal shelter. Hearts for animals even held a beach clean up to help the …show more content…
Lou Wegner is a famous actor who uses his popularity to make a change for animals. Lou was born in Columbus Ohio. He became a teen activist at age fourteen. He founded Kids Against Animal Cruelty in 2010. More than 50,000 people are members of Kids Against Animal Cruelty. Lou Wegner was named one of the top five celebrity activists. Lou holds fundraisers to help shelters that have been getting too many animals each day. He helps at Baldwin Park Animal Shelter. He has received many philanthropic awards for his activism. Lou and his prom date brought two dogs that were supposed to be killed to show the unfortunate fate of the dogs and to get attention from other people to show them that this is a problem. The dog’s names were Janice and Ollie. Janice was on his deathbed and Ollie was facing the gas chamber in West Virginia. Because of CNN Janice and Ollie were adopted and West Virginia does not use gas chambers anymore. Lou serves as the national ambassador for the American Humane Association. Lou Wegner said that he has learned that one person can make a difference, and nothing is set in stone. He also said that you should follow your passion and dreams; anything and everything is
