Spatiotemporal account makes sense, and that what makes universals distinctive is the ability of existing in multiple places at the same time. Making the distinction between particulars and universals is easier when related to space and time. It is easy to imagine a particular object only being able to occupy one space in time; and also easy to understand how a universal property can be applied in multiple times and spaces. A particular object can only exist in one space at one time, which seems intuitively obvious

Lowe brings up a difficulty in this distinction because of the possibility of time travel. “If time travel in to the past is possible, then it should be possible, in principle, for a particular blue chair to be ‘sent back in time’ to a time and place at which it formerly existed.” Two distinct blue chairs, according to the spatiotemporal distinction, isn’t something that a particular can do. This difficulty is one that is a bit nit-picky to me, which tends to be a theme in philosophy, but until time travel is remotely possible, arguments concerning its use should not be topics of discussion.
How do properties of abstract particulars exist in time and space? Do abstract properties actually exist, or are they merely referred to at a given time in a certain space?
