Gay Marriage: Should It Be Allowed?

...Gay Marriage: Should It Be Allowed? BCOM275 Gay Marriage: Should It Be Allowed? Homosexuality has been a taboo existence in the past, but now it is accepted more and more across the globe. However, the institution of marriage amongst the gay community has become a controversial issue, as was interracial marriage in the past. Although there are increasing parts of the United States and the rest of the world in support of marriage equality throughout the LGBT community, there are still those who remain against it. In this paper, you will read views and information from both sides stating why gay marriage should be legalized or remain illegal from the standpoints of family, equal rights, and religion. Homosexual and bisexual behavior has been documented around the world since ancient times via art, literature, and other historical artifacts (History of Homosexuality, 2013). In fact, studies show that many people are unaware that a peer, family member, or friend is homosexual. With that being said, why should gay marriage be so controversial? Supporters of gay marriage as well as the LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bisexual & Transgender) community agree that gay marriage should be legalized without stipulations. Those in civil unions are allowed to legally adopt children, but they cannot be in the hospital room when their partner passes away. It is unjust. Marriage should exist between two people who love each other, despite gender. To state one of the reasons...

The Quality of Online Social Relationships

...QUALITY OF Online Social Relationships ONLINE RELATIONSHIPS ARE LESS VALUABLE THAN OFFLINE ONES. INDEED, THEIR NET BENEFIT DEPENDS ON WHETHER THEY SUPPLEMENT OR SUBSTITUTE FOR OFFLINE SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS. { By Jonathon N. Cummings, Brian Butler, and Robert Kraut} eople use the Internet intensely tor interpersonal commimication, sending und receiving email, contacting friends and family via instant messaging services, visiting chat rooms, or subscribing to distribution lists, among other activities. The evidence is clear that interpersonal communication is an important use of the Internet, if not its most important use. For example, both selt-report surveys 112] and computer monitoring studies [5] indicate that email is the most popular online application. Claims regarding the Internets usefulness for developing social relationships, however, remain controversial. Both personal testimonials (for example, []()]) and systematically collected data document the deep and meaningful social relationships people can cultivate online (for example, |8]). This evidence, however, conflicts with data comparing the value that people place on their online relationships with offline relationships and with data comparing social relationships among heavy and light Internet users. For example. Parks and Roberts [9] surveyed users of multiplayer environments called MOOs. Ninety-three percent of the users had made friends online, but when asked to compare their ...

...Third Gender – Equality and Truth http://caissg.org/third-gender-equality-truth/ It is a brave and honest person who can stand apart from the masses and openly challenge its most treasured beliefs. ~ Donna Evans As humans, we understand a little about our complex bodies even with the greatest medical science. It is what it is. Then why lie? Secrecy and stigma are worse than the condition itself. Without truth and transparency, it is difficult to pass laws, provide equal rights, offer support and help for all. We need to have an environment which encourages truth, tolerance, and respect for all.  Are there only two genders or is there a third gender?Regardless of which side of the issue you are on, we can all agree thattruth is always the right option and secrecy and lying have no place for a long-term solution in a civilized society. There are several issues withsecrecy and lying. First it is wrong. Second it does not take into account the feelings and trauma of the person being lied to. Third it could lead to criminal acts such as if lying is a crime under oath. What are the bioethics for disclosure to spouses? It is NOT about gender identity or it is NOT about the sexual identity, it is about the HUMAN identity which is to say the truth. As a human being, everyone deserves a feeling of “belonging”, understanding and acceptance. Without recognition of the truth, how will an intersex person marry legally or how can an intersex couple (who are infertile) adopt a child legally...

A Comparative Study of Cognitive Radio Platforms

...A Comparative Study of Cognitive Radio Platforms Moshe Timothy Masonta CSIR Meraka and TUT P.O. Box 395 Pretoria 0001, South Africa Mjumo Mzyece Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Pretoria, South Africa Fisseha Mekuria Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Pretoria 0001, South Africa mmasonta@csir.co.za mzyecem@tut.ac.za fmekuria@csir.co.za ABSTRACT Cognitive radio (CR) technology has become one of the buzzwords within the wireless communications community over the past 12 years. Its ability to learn, decide and adapt to the external environment made CR attractive to regulators, researchers, academia, politicians and the industry. CR promises to bring a paradigm shift in spectrum management policies from command-and-control regime to dynamic and opportunistic spectrum access. Despite more than a decade of research in the CR area, there are too little CR systems ready for the market. This lack of ready CR systems may reflect an overemphasis in the CR literature on theory and simulations with less work done in experimental-basedresearch and publications. In order to fast-track the real-life deployments of CR systems, the research community is now focusing on the development of CR platforms. With different software defined radio (SDR) packages and hardware available, it is confusing to decide which one to build or use. The objective of this paper is to study the design of CR platforms making use available SDR software packages and hardware...
