Maci Jones was brought into the emergency room by her birth father, Isaac Curry. He expressed concerns over Maci’s health conditions because she shows signs of the flu. She is currently running a fever of 104° F, complains of body aches, fatigue, and is constantly vomiting. He says that she will not drink any liquids and she is very irritable. He then conveyed to the ER nurse that Maci’s mother would not want him here. He stated that he does not have custody of Maci and her mother generously allows him to see her when he pleases. However, he believes that Maci’s mother is not adequately taking care of her because she refuses to listen to the doctor’s instructions. Isaac stated that he would like for Maci to begin school but she has the possibility …show more content…
The nurse believed that the family dynamics were compelling and they would benefit substantially from meeting with the social worker on staff. This social worker decided to meet with each member of the family individually to gain more knowledge of the situation. Upon meeting Miranda she appeared untidy. She was dressed in a stained cut off shirt, long soiled skirt, and smelled as if she has not recently bathed. Her hair presents itself as being uncombed, she does not have on shoes, and because of this her feet are black and beginning to form callouses. She believes that she is only able to rely on her boyfriend to support her and did not mention any other family members or …show more content…

He stated that he and Miranda did not get pregnant on purpose especially because he is three years older than her, which made them 16 and 19 at the time of conception. Miranda’s parents never knew Isaac and therefore did not press charges. He stated that neither he nor Miranda planned to build a family together but he agreed to help her financially without getting the court system involved. Therefore, he went to the military since that was the “easiest way.” He stated that when he was able to see Maci she was often sick and when he asked Miranda what the doctors requested she often responded the same, which was “they don’t know what they’re talking about.” He never knew what she meant by her statements but he believes Maci has been medically neglected for the past three years. He said that he does not agree with Miranda’s choices on how to raise Maci and therefore has kept a journal of all the times Maci has been sick and Miranda has refused treatment. Allegedly, Maci did not receive any immunizations as an infant. He stated that he was aware that she had a complication free at home birth with a midwife but refused to follow up with a doctor after her
