Influencing Policy

According to the Federation of State Pirgs (U.S PIRG), this interest group is taking notice of the increase of prices for further educational programs; college for example. U.S PIRG Higher Education Director Chris Lindstrom is approaching this issue by calling on Congress not to double the student loan interest rate. According to the origins of this interest group, it was formed by a group of individuals who held the same common interests in this issue. Over time, it could be confirmed that the students had won against banks in the U.S Department of Education rule. Also, the U.S PIRG statement on state of the union address mentioned President Barack Obama speaking to Congress about this issue. Another speaker, Ethan Senack, states that it was time to allow policymakers to come together and approach the solutions that allow students to have complete access to the resources they need to pursue a higher education. This particular interest group could definitely link to others trying to make particular opportunities available to the people of society. It could be recognized that this group would have best support a court decision due to some type of increase in taxes—making life more educationally oriented for students. The U.S PIRG Higher Education Project aims to: Keep loans affordable, increase grant aid to students, and make textbooks affordable. Therefore, the call to Congress on this court decision would make all of this possible if they choose not to double the student loan interest rate.

I completed my primary education, where Kannada was the primary language and social studies, mathematics, and science subjects were in the same language. ...FINAL DRAFT- HINDSIGHT MAIRA KHUDA BUKSH SECTION: MC-1 ERP: 09329 DATE: 30-10-14 “I used to be very distracted and apathetic until my father’s words led me to work hard and be more focused” I used to be very distracted and apathetic. I held a relaxed, creative, imaginative, artistic and friendly approach towards life. I spent my time in leisure activities like socializing, shopping or having a good time. I remained calm and relaxed most of the times. I believed in taking my time to stop and smell the roses instead of running the mad rat race. Relaxation, enjoyment and fun came very naturally to me. I did not feel any sort of compulsion to meet deadlines. I had no problem relaxing or sitting without doing anything unlike. I had no concern about my future aims. I had not decided earlier about my plans after my Intermediate. When my exams ended, and I saw my friends moving ahead and going in good universities, I realized that I should also do something. I did not want to be left out. One of my friends was applying for BBA in IBA (Institute of Business Administration). I thought that this is a good idea and it would be perfect for me. Though I knew that passing the IBA test is not easy, I had 20 days so I believed that I could do it by working hard. I shared this idea with my father, but he refused and said that it is not as easy as I think. It requires a long haul. He gave me the examples of my cousins and my brother, who after preparing hard for months, failed...

Deaf Children

... Who has the ability to define who or what illiteracy is? Researchers and doctors define illiteracy as “the absence of knowledge that involves but is not confined to graphic marks. It has been contended that the term may also apply to the difficulty one experiences in interpreting and using written materials in a variety of contexts, as well as the inability to take part in a literate culture despite having mastered its written symbols.” (Massone) The question now is who is categorizes as being illiterate? Are people placed in this category because of their physical traits i.e learning disabilities, handicaps or because of they just cannot understand i.e not wanting to learn. In the article Deaf Children’s Construction Writing by Maira Massone she discusses how “various studies have focused on different aspects of the "conquest of the written language" by deaf children and teenagers. Stressing their competence in and need for visual communication, this research therefore calls for the rejection of oralism in favor of the new ways of knowing made possible by today's essentially visual media and multimedia. In speaking of writing as a language or a mode of language, we mean far more than simply communicating.” So are deaf children illiterate because they don’t have the ability to speak or learn at the same speed as other children. No they’re not, just because they don’t have the same senses or ability as other children doesn’t mean that they don’t have the same ability...

Procurement Is Essentially Delivering Value Through Relationships

...'Procurement is essentially delivering value through relationships' Procurement and Contract Management This article is a literature review on the topic ' Procurement is essentially delivering value through relationships' . Procurement has been always considered to be the least among functions like Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management etc...even though about 60% of the operating cost is for procurement and in cases like a manufacturing company it is even more. The recent Economic crisis has forced the top management to focus on this aspect of the business more carefully. This review explores the various aspects of procurement, in order to understand the concept of procurement some of the basic concepts like buyer and supplier, business relationships and customer value have been defined. Further I have tried to establish how procurement can add value to a business and to do this I have quoted examples from various business websites and journals. The review is also able to describe how a long term business relationship between the Buyer and Supplier can benefit each other both in terms of growth and financially. Every positive side has a negative side to it, I have been able to show some aspects of the negative side of it. Overall it can be concluded that procurement does deliver value through relationships. Introduction Procurement process is one of the most essential part of a business or a project. Through this process you are exposed to the potential market...

Education in the Prison System

...“In most societies, formal schooling is an important institution for transmitting knowledge and culture from generation to generation and for developing human traits that contribute to human output, social stability, and the production of new knowledge” (Carnoy, Education as Cultural Imperialism, p.1). Ultimately the word “education” would mean for one to be enlightened and obtain knowledge through learning. However, the kind of education received within the United States Prison Systems is actively doing the opposite. The oppressed inmate populations are ultimately being exploited for cheap labor in order to support a capitalist society that they do not benefit from. This paper will argue that the education being withheld from prison inmates is both cultural and educational imperialism. This paper will also argue that the Prison Industrial Complex is intentionally exploiting inmates to contribute to a capitalist labor market instead of receiving education they are entitled to in order to be rehabilitated, reduce recidivism, improve their lives and ultimately better benefit society. Incarceration in the United States is the main form of punishment, rehabilitation, or both as a consequence of felony and other criminal offenses. The United States is the world’s leader in incarceration with 2.2 million people currently in the nation's prisons or jails. This means a 500% increase over the past thirty years (The Sentencing Project.org). These trends have resulted in prison overcrowding...

Hr Case Study on a Magazine Company

...With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility In old times the dilemma was to be or not to be, in today’s time it’s to be seen or not to be seen. In today’s fast moving routines, recognition has become one of the imperative forms of appraisals used by many organizations and acknowledged by the recipients. This trend not only exists in organizations but has been improvised and has formulated itself into being an element of our everyday lives. This has been made easier with the advent of social magazines, for example, GoodTimes (GT), which recognizes and brings to heed the ongoing events taking place in the country. Even at a time when everyone is caught up in their own routines, keeping a tab on the whereabouts of our surrounding remains on top of the priority list. Humans are very contentious by nature, as stated by the Highest power, and so they are deemed to feed themselves on these fables. What makes this process simpler is the presence of an outlook in the face of such a social magazines; GT. “We get calls from all over the country asking whether their event is being covered by the magazine”, spelled out Elaine, the assistant editor of the magazine. “Everyone wants to be on the first page. They want to be seen by all”, she continued. Amidst growing tension in the economy regarding underground tapping of resources and political instability, every company or organization has been facing its set of problems. These problems have ranged from increasing employee turnover to...

Death Penalty

...Maira De Leon Professor Bell ENG 1102 July 27th, 2015 Right Denied: The Effects Being Ignored Death by lethal injection, death by electrocution, or any form of the death penalty given that people find to be fit for capital crimes is not a human’s right. We as humans do not have the right to end someone’s life based on the fact that they committed a crime. We have to take into accountability the countless amounts of lives that are impacted by this. Even on the international level, there are hundreds of countries who have abolished the death penalty completely. There is more to this than others think, yet they do not take the time to research or study the adverse effects of what this kind of punishment can cause. The death penalty violates the human right to life and causes a ripple effect that destroys the lives of the families of the individuals being executed. Death penalty supporters can be very profound with their opinions on what they believe is an excellent crime deterrent. In an article written for the Journal of Criminal Justice between May and June 2009, one of the authors by the name Shanhe Jiang stated, “Supporters of the death penalty argue that sentencing criminals to death deters others from committing a similar crime in the future.” He states that future crimes could indeed be deterred because of the continued support for the death penalty. In many cases, people see the death penalty as a form to punish those who commit murder, mass murder, rape and any...

...Thank you very much everyone, thank you for spending willing to spend your time to be with me and hear my speech for today. For today, kindly lend me your ears and I would try my best to interest you with my speech about parenting. Perhaps before I begin my speech, I hope you will forgive me if I just remind you about the missing of our MAS Flight MH370 which until now, nobody knew what happens to them. Few month back then, the mainstream media reported and follows the Tweet of Maira Nari, 17 years old daughter of Andrew Nari, one of the crew for that unlucky flight. “Come home fast dad, it’s the only thing I want” “Daddy, Liverpool is winning the game. Come home, so you can watch the game! You never miss watching the game. It’s your very first time” Judging from all those tweets, we can see that her daughter’s strength, emotion and loves to him, as a credits and the results him being a good and example parent, where his lost felt deep by his daughter. This is what my speech will elaborates about, what does it takes to be a good parents. Yes, you can find hundreds of websites, thousands of books, and no shortage of magazines about parenting, but if you ask few people about the most important parenting quality, you will likely end up with just as many answers. Some would say love, attention, money, wealth, food. Some would say spending quality time with them while others would say discipline. But what is it actually?
