I began this assignment by reviewing and listening to the variety of musical compositions that we have studied. I was completely moved when I heard the song “ Manha De Carnaval”. This song is located in the section titled Folk Music, Art Music and All That Jazz. The composers of Manha De Carnaval are Sigman an Bonfa. My analysis of this song as a referential listener, delivers an image of street performers in Brazil playing this Latin ensemble, while surrounded by an urban culture of people dancing and celebrating. When I hear this song am taken back to my travels, where I have fond memories of this Brazilian style of music. Just as I sit here in my chair, listening to the song, I begin to salsa to the beat.
