I will be the most famous marathon swimmer in the world.

This is where my life is headed and how I will get there. The University of Southern California is my number one pick! I imagine my future and a couple of things come to mind. Firstly, "Who am I?".

In the future, I will be a professional marathon swimmer. Having completed the first ever triple crossing of the Catalina Channel and the youngest to complete a double crossing of the Catalina Channel. I will also hold a world record for longest unassisted solo swim at 80+ miles.

I will be a business owner. I love helping others and something I have always found passion for is the overweight. I will be opening a weight loss clinic specializing in the obese, utilizing my aquatic aptitude …show more content…
I have a lot of them. I was a D2 swimmer when I was 18, young and immature I was unfocused and quit. I joined the Navy shortly after. In the Navy I learned a whole heap about myself and quite frankly the whole world. I was stationed in Japan, traveled the south pacific and was tested more mentally than ever before. I returned to school after 4 years and immediately found myself driven to put myself out there and see what I could get done. I had not gone to school, much less swam, in about 5 years at this point. Back in the pool for Mesa College I was conference champion in the 1650 yard Freestyle, 3rd in the 400 Individual Medley and 5th in the 500 Freestyle. Most importantly I was doing something I hadn't done before, I was excelling at school and athletics at the same time, I was adapting and overcoming. I had grown in to the person I was not 5 years ago as a student athlete. So now, "Who is with me". I have met so many people in everything I am doing to become successful. I love meeting new people sharing experiences and teaming up to help each other. It would be an honor to have University of Southern California, "With me". It is without a doubt would that I would not be headed down the path I am on with out the help of others. For them I will always be thankful! I look forward to the day my name joins the Trojan

...Athletic HISTORY The first modern-style indoor athletics meetings were recorded shortly after in the 1860s, including a meet at Ashburnham Hall in London which featured four running events and a triple jump competition. The Amateur Athletic Association (AAA) was established in England in 1880 as the first national body for the sport of athletics and began holding its own annual athletics competition – the AAA Championships. The United States also began holding an annual national competition – the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships – first held in 1876 by the New York Athletic Club.[14] Athletics became codified and standardized via the English AAA and other general sports organisations in the late 19th century, such as the Amateur Athletic Union (founded in the US in 1888) and the Union des sociétésfrançaises de sports athlétiques (founded in France in 1889). An athletics competition was included in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and it has been as one of the foremost competitions at the quadrennial multi-sport event ever since. Originally for men only, the 1928 Olympics saw the introduction of women's events in the athletics programme. Athletics is part of the Paralympic Games since the inaugural Games in 1960. Athletics has a very high profile during major championships, especially the Olympics, but otherwise is less popular. An international governing body, the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF), was founded in 1912; it adopted its current...

Ben Kibler TENNIS RECOVERY A Comprehensive Review of the Research A United States Tennis Association Sport Science Committee Project Editors: Mark S. Kovacs, PhD Todd S. Ellenbecker, DPT W. Ben Kibler, MD Introduction In the last two decades, physical training and competitive opportunities have increased dramatically in junior, collegiate and professional tennis. This arose due to a multitude of factors, but much of it has stemmed from an increase in knowledge and understanding of scientifically based training programs focused on improving performance. As this focus on performance has increased, the area of recovery has received relatively limited focus. Recovery is a multi-faceted paradigm focusing on recovery from training—session to session, day to day and week to week. Recovery is also vitally important during training as well as in competition between matches and between days during multi-day tournaments. As more information is needed in the area of tennis specific recovery, the Sport Science Committee of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) sponsored an extensive evidence-based...

...Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader, and 2. More than anything, you want to communicate those ideas to your reader. These reminders may seem obvious to you, but without a solid commitment to your own opinions as well as to your reader, your prose will be lifeless and boring. If you don’t care about your subject, you can’t very well expect anyone else to. Have confidence that your ideas are worthwhile and that your reader genuinely...
