MARGINALIZED COMMUNITY
Marginalized community refers to that an individual or a community or a part of the society which is excluded from the whole society. The marginalized communities are not granted the rights, opportunities and even the resources such as healthcare, employment, etc. which are normally enjoyed by the members of society. These communities are excluded from these services and hence they cannot participate in social and economic life of a society. Social Exclusion is a synonym for Marginalized Community. Marginalized community mainly arise due to discernment in the person's social class, the language they speak, living standards, educational status and several other such reasons. It may also include people with certain disabilities, elderly people and LGBT community (lesbian, gay, bilateral and transgender communities).
The main causes of the formation of marginalised communities (social exclusion) are the following -
1. Unemployment
2. Degradation of Living Standards
3. Poverty
4. Social Isolation
5. Gender Inequalities
6. Racial Differences
All the factors leading to social exclusion are inter-related. Different components of social exclusion influence each other, which results in multiple hardships. The hardship or detriment usually begins with the loss of employment, which in turn leads to a significant degradation in living standards, which in turn leads to an increased risk of poverty. Living in poverty creates more difficulties in the search for employment and hence it creates an unending cycle. At the same time, unemployment and poverty hinder participation of the person in social activities of the society. Hence in turn ,the social ties are weakened which increases the probability of social isolation. If the period of unemployment, and so forth the poverty, is prolonged, tensions will occur in the family and in marital relations. This would weaken the family as well as marital relations. The lack of money also weakens ties with friends, neighbours and relatives. Hence, these leads to the creation of marginalised community.
The most important step in the elimination of Marginalized Community is to inculcate Social Inclusion through education. Through the means of quality education, the crisis for unemployment can be reduced. Hence, as the employment increases all the other factors which leaded to social exclusion, would diminish.

...on “developing socially-responsible leaders and engaged alumni.” This goal is central to the full expression and realization of our Catholic, Vincentian and urban mission, which challenges us to maintain vigilant attention to the common good and to the sacred dignity of all people, especially the poor and marginalized. The development of socially responsible leaders in today’s complex, global, and ever-changing world requires a commitment to students’ holistic and integrated learning by a community of faculty, staff and University partners who accompany and mentor students on their developmental path. Moreover, it requires that the University community itself embody what it seeks to develop in its students, thus acting as an effective mentoring community and environment. At DePaul, five broad categories have emerged as central to our understanding of socially responsible leadership: 1. Self-Understanding & Personal Integrity Socially responsible leaders have achieved a sense of self-authorship or personal agency. They critically assess and actively discern how their personal gifts, talents, resources, and abilities might best contribute to the broader human community. They articulate and live with a sense of authenticity, purpose, and ethical integrity. They maintain an appreciation for the transcendent dimension of human life, and seek ongoing personal and spiritual development and growth. The participants in this research are constantly in the public’s eye. Their identities are not secret and often the ways in which they engage in informal economy are well known as well. A select few of these individuals have participated in city meetings that are televised. Other anthropologists, sociologists, and curious academics have examined the decline of this southern sector of Dallas for one reason or another. Newspaper reporters and other media groups have often completed editorial pieces on this community and its residents (housed and un-housed). Identities are often made public; however, anonymity in regards to person or place is very much a component to this research in accordance with the anthropological guidelines of human subject protection. The Role of a Community Counselor

...The Role of a Community Counselor Donte Love Abstract The purpose of this paper is to address the role and function of the community counselor. Additionally, the framework of the community counseling model is taken into account, including some of the strategies used in community counseling. The Role of a Community Counselor Community counseling can be defined as “…a comprehensive helping framework that is grounded in multicultural competence and oriented toward social justice (Lewis, Lewis, Daniels, & D'Andrea, 2011). While this definition may serve as a starting point, any meaningful understanding of the role and function of a Community counselor requires more than a brief description or a cursory glance at a definition. The community counseling model is based on four fundamental assumptions and several concepts. The first assumption is: “1. Human development and behavior take place in environmental contexts that have the potential to be nurturing or limiting” (Lewis et al., 2011). This assumption refers to the connection between people and their environment and its potential to act as a source of support or as a limiting factor on their development. The community counseling model effectively deals with the environmental factors that have an influence on the development of problems that people encounter. “2. Even in the face of devastating stress, people who are treated respectfully can demonstrate surprising levels of strength and access resources that a pessimistic...

Community Rights and Geographical Indications

...Community Rights and Geographical Indications Introduction The Concept of Community. The first step in considering the meaning of community is to understand that, fundamentally, it is a fluid concept. What one person calls a community may not match another person’s definition. A person may be a member of a community by choice, as with voluntary associations, or by virtue of their innate personal characteristics, such as age, gender, race, or ethnicity. As a result, individuals may belong to multiple communities at any one time. When initiating community engagement efforts, one must be aware of these complex associations in deciding which individuals to work within the targeted community. A community is a group of two or more people who have been able to accept and transcend their differences regardless of the diversity of their backgrounds (social, spiritual, educational, ethnic, economic, political, etc.) This enables them to communicate effectively and openly and to work together toward goals identified as being for their common good. The word community can refer to a specific group of people or it can describe a quality of relationship based on certain values and principles. A community is a group of all leaders who share equal responsibility for and commitment to maintaining its spirit. Community is reflective, contemplative and introspective. Communities may be viewed as systems composed of individual members and sectors that have a variety of distinct characteristics...

Company Q - a Company Without a Clue

...Company Q shows a lack of dedication and compassion to their community, indifference to the wants of their customers, and a lack of responsibility to their employees and stakeholders. Part 2: Recommendations There are a number of things that Company Q can do to increase their social responsibility to the community that they serve, their employees, and stakeholders. First, Company Q can operate different types of stores in the different neighborhoods they serve. In lower-income areas stores can be operated as smaller neighborhood markets that offer fewer services and sell essential grocery items. Stores in middle-income, working class areas can be larger supermarkets that offer more services, and sell a mix of essential grocery items and specialty health and organic items. Higher-income areas can have stores that offer the same services as the general supermarkets, but offer a wider variety of specialty health and organic items along with imported and other high-end products. By diversifying the types of stores it operates, Company Q can respond to customer demands and expand its offering of high margin health and organic items, or any other items, in the areas where those products are in demand. Secondly, Company Q should re-open stores in the higher-crime areas they have recently closed stores. By using the different store types for different neighborhoods, Company Q can show its support for the entire community by operating stores in all neighborhoods. They should also...

Whenever any of them get sick or injured, Susan takes them to the veterinary immediately no matter how late it is. When I first arrived, I asked Susan to why not let the community to take in some of the stray dogs. She refused and claimed “They need family”. It is true, we all need family. Now as I cleaned the yard and washed the dogs habitually with my host brothers and roommates, I find joy in offering my helping hands to this compassionate lady. Benignancy is about selflessly helping others without asking for any payback. I’m a lucky recipient of this lesson through volunteering work. I had been a volunteer in my community center in China before I went to the U.S.A. Every Sunday morning we knocked the doors of the elderly in the community to hand them free bread and offered to help them in house works, we were always met with wrinkled faces enveloping tremendous smile. It is then I learned the lesson; giving is receiving. In Sioux Falls, I attended the “Community Furniture Mission”, a volunteer service that picks up furniture from the...
