GIRL EMPOWERMENT: LATINAS
INTRODUCTION:
Through this research, I found that there is a lot of contributors to how a girl feel about themselves. These young Latinas need to be able to feel like they are enough, and they can do this by simply, not caring about what other think or say.

SUBTOPIC #1: Emotional
As part of the Latino culture, marianismo affect a girl's emotion. Marianismo is the female equivalent of machismo; it is considered to be the realization of the feminine, and characterized by hyper feminine behavior.
In other words, marianismo is women accepting their roles, such as, housewives and mothers. They also accept living in the shadow of their husband and children.

This means that women who accept this lifestyle, are actually benefitting from it. For example, “ Women benefit from the ideal of women as semi divine, morally superior, and spiritually stronger than men”(AgeofRevolution). This shows that women can get an advantage from marianismo to their faith. They also get female superiority from being able to give life. The Age of Revolution blog says, “By tolerating the husband’s behavior and wickedness, women receive validation from society and from God”. I can understand this because growing up I didn’t have a lot of confidence myself, and I didn’t think that I can do anything, and it kind of affected the way I perform in school, like giving presentations.
It’s also important because girls should “stand up to the pressures of society and act a certain way”. Meaning that girls should be confident enough to stand up for themselves and be who they want to be and to not care what other might think of them.
Additionally, a tips to be an empowered girl is to try new thing. This helps girls by gaining more confidence because they are able to do things they have never done before. Another tip is to advocate for yourself, meaning that girls should believe in themselves and this could go a long way.
It’s also important for family member and friends to provide love and support to any girl. This lets girls know that other people believe in them and feel loved. Even though the most important thing is for someone to believe in themselves and to not care about what anybody else thinks, it’s nice to have someone who believes in
