Marijuana and Signal Reception

The dried leaves drug known as marijuana/cannabis still has no true natural purpose. It does, however, have the potential to be a medicine. Marijuana is frequently beneficial to the treatment of AIDS, cancer, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, and chronic pain. Our bodies have two cannabinoid receptors (one in the brain and one in the immune system) which are responsible for the usage of THC within our bodies, meaning we were made to process it. There are two strains of ganja; Indica or Sativa. Although there are many types of weed, the effects don’t really vary that much. There’s the kind that relaxes your mind, the kind that relaxes your body, or the kind that does both. The only really big difference in weed, besides the strains, is the amount it would take to get you high. For example you can buy hydro and exotic, and the exotic will get you high off one puff/blow/bong hit, whereas hydro would take 2, but the high will still be the same.
Pot acts on the central nervous system by binding itself to brain's neurons and interfering with normal communication between the neurons. These nerves respond by changing their initial behavior. The plant contains 400 chemicals and 60 of them are cannabinoids, which are psychoactive compounds that are produced inside the body after cannabis is metabolized or is extorted from the cannabis plant. Cannabinoids is an active ingredient of marijuana. The most psychoactive cannabinoids chemical in marijuana that has the biggest impact on the brain is tetrahydrocannibol, or THC. THC is the main active ingredient in marijuana because it affects the brain by attaching to and turning on specific receptors, known as the cannabinoid receptors. These receptors control memory, thought, concentration, time and depth, and coordinated movement. Some of these affects are personality disturbances, depression and chronic anxiety. Psychiatrists who treat schizophrenic patients advise them to not use this drug because marijuana can trigger severe mental disturbances and cause a relapse. When one's memory is affected by high dose of marijuana, short-term memory is the first to be triggered. Weed’s damage to short-term memory happens because THC alters the way in which information is processed by the hippocampus, a brain area responsible for memory formation. When someone has smoked a large amount of reefer, new information does not register into their brain and this may be lost from memory and they are not able to retrieve new information for more than a few minutes.

This chapter introduces you to their function—how neurons conduct and transmit electrochemical signals through your nervous system. It begins with a description of how signals are generated in resting neurons; then, it follows the signals as they are conducted through neurons and transmitted across synapses to other neurons. It concludes with a discussion of how drugs are used to study the relation between synaptic transmission and behavior. “The Lizard,” a case study of a patient with Parkinson’s disease, Roberto Garcia d’Orta, will help you appreciate why a knowledge of neural conduction and synaptic transmission is an integral part of biopsychology. ...detect, communicate and co-ordinate information about its external and internal environment so it can make efficient appropriate responses for survival and/or reproduction. The two major parts of our nervous system are the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS). The CNS is made of the brain and spinal cord.   The cranial nerves, spinal nerves and ganglia make up the PNS. The cranial nerves connect to the brain. The cranial and spinal nerves contain the axons (fibres) of sensory and motor nerve cells.   Nerve cells areas are also known as neurons. Neurons are the basic unit of the nervous system. They carry information or impulses as electrical signals from one place to another in the body. There are 3 types of neurons: Sensory Neurons- Sensory neurons carry electrical signals (impulses) from receptors or sense organs to the CNS. Sensory neurons are also called afferent neurons. The cell body of sensory neurons is outside the CNS in ganglia.   Motor Neurons- Motor Neurons Carry Impulses From The CNS To Effector Organs Motor Neurons Are Also Called Efferent Neurons. The Cell Bodies Of Motor Neurons Are Inside The CNS.   Interneurons- These are also called intermediate, relay, or associative neurons. They carry information between sensory and motor neurons. They are found in the CNS.  TOP The Structure of Neurons A Neuron consists of THREE MAIN PARTS:     A. CELL BODY - The largest part, contains the nucleus and much of the cytoplasm...

It has extensions from its head, getting particles from the outside. So it comes out of its hole to snatch these particles. It has one fear though: seagulls. The worm is delicious to them. The lives of your passengers and all other drivers and pedestrians around you on the road are at risk. Driving is the most dangerous thing you do on a daily basis. One little mistake at any speed, whether at 65 mph or 35 mph, can be deadly. As a driver, your responsibility is not only to respect the law but also to appreciate the risks when you operate your vehicle, risks both to yourself and to the other drivers with whom you share the road. Short Stories

...Chinua Achebe A Man of the People First published in 1966 For Chris CHAPTER ONE No one can deny that Chief the Honourable M.A. Nanga, M.P., was the most approachable politician in the country. Whether you asked in the city or in his home village, Anata, they would tell you he was a man of the people. I have to admit this from the onset or else the story I'm going to tell will make no sense. That afternoon he was due to address the staff and students of the Anata Grammar School where I was teaching at the time. But as usual in those highly political times the villagers moved in and virtually took over. The Assembly Hall must have carried well over thrice its capacity. Many villagers sat on the floor, right up to the foot of the dais. I took one look and decided it was just as well we had to stay outside---at least for the moment. Five or six dancing groups were performing at different points in the compound. The popular 'Ego Women's Party' wore a new uniform of expensive accra cloth. In spite of the din you could still hear as clear as a bird the high- powered voice of their soloist, whom they admiringly nicknamed 'Grammarphone'. Personally I don't care too much for our women's dancing but you just had to listen whenever Grammar-phone sang. She was now praising Micah's handsomeness, which she likened to the perfect, sculpted beauty of a carved eagle, and his popularity which would be the envy of the proverbial traveller-to-distant-places who must not...
