All of the companies specialize in outdoor and apparel and all three companies has retail stores and Dicks is the largest. Dicks was founded in 1948 and operates in about 690 stores in 45- plus states. Below is a chronological summary of the primary functions of our code and how it helps us achieve profitability. 1. Traditional market-making occurs as we submit 10,000 share limit buy orders at the mid-market price minus a $0.02 spread and 10,000 share limit sell orders at the mid-market price plus a $0.02 spread. The goal here is to generate profits by capturing the bid-ask spread and commission rebates. 2. The algorithm then checks our VWAP as well as the current bid or ask in the market depending on if our position is positive or negative. Leaving a small buffer for transaction costs, 10,000 share limit buy or sell orders will then be initiated to capture profit if market conditions allow. 3. There may be instances where the market is trending though and as a result only the sell or buy limit orders are being filled. To negate our position from getting to large or short and thus just speculating on the market the algorithm will initiate a stop market-making function. If our position is greater than 20,001 only sell orders will be implemented at the mid-market price plus a $0.02 spread. If our position is less than -20,001 only buy orders will be implemented at the mid-market price minus a $0.02 spread.
