Unit 2 Assignment
If I were a research consultant for Mr. Kabasella, considering the fact that the restaurant isn’t bring in as much sales as people hoped, I would need to look at their monthly and yearly sales as well as figure out about the location at which the restaurant is set up at. There are a lot of things that can go south when operating a business.
I work in the food business. Like Mr. Kabasella, we have a variety of items for customers to choose from. There are times where we will introduce a new item to see how it will sell. If the product sells well enough, then we keep it as a main item. If not, then we either pull it or make it a seasonal item. What I would do is first look at the location of the business. You want to have a location that is widely populated. You also need to make sure that other businesses that do the same type of sales isn’t over run in the area or else you won’t bring in much revenue. In this case, he is near a university, so there is a good size population in the area. Now moving to the interior of the business. The inside seems to be set up rather well to house a lot of people of need be. There is also room for dancing considering the music being played. It seems to be a type of restaurant setup for all ages which is good for bringing in sales.
To me it would seem that one of the issues to be looked at is the menu. African food may not be a food that is too commonly found in the U.S. maybe since they want to utilize their cultural food, they could put a bit of an American twist to it. You have to look at a bigger picture when it comes to a food business. If you stick with one type of cultural food, you are limiting who will come and eat there. I would revamp the menu, adding a variety of dishes that aren’t just African style dishes. This will give the customers more of a variety to

A company uses this function to link the consumer, customer, and public to the market. A marketing research is an important part of business, and without it, companies won’t be able to keep in touch with trends, demands and preferences of their consumers. The four elements of marketing mix, price, product, place and promotion form the basis of any good market research.
