Marks of a Good. Man
By Kosi Graham

Introduction
A foundation is a substance on which you build a structure. The foundation actually supports the building. In fact, each part of the building depends on the foundation. If it has good, deep, sure foundations then the building will stand no matter what comes against it. If not, when trouble occurs the building will fall.

Fundamentals to being a Good Father:
Being a man, functioning as a man, taking responsibility as a man, thinking like a man, acting like a man, working like a man, all of these are prerequisites to being a good Father! You will not be a good Father until you are a good Man. It’s a dying art today…there are not many in our nation anymore.
Thank God we DO have a few good men here…we can always use a few more!

1. Psalm 37:23- The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
E.g. God’s Promises to Abraham
Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)
Now the LORD had said to Abram:
“Get out of your country,From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation;I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you;And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

2. Proverbs 12:2a- A good man obtains favor from the Lord..
Acts 13:22(NIV)2 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’

3. Proverbs 13:22a – A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children

E.g. Judges 2: 7-10 - When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.

4. Matthew 12:35 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things,
Psalm 127
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,The fruit of the womb is a reward.4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth.5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;

Mark 10:17-31 (Analysis)

...Mark 10:17-31 “The Rich Young Man” Tylor Burkhalter 4/2/11 Gospel of Mark INTRODUCTION: I chose to write about Mark 10:17-31. This pericope tells the story of the rich young ruler. The young man had followed all the commandments since child hood yet it wasn’t enough, Jesus asked him to sell all that he had and follow him. The young man couldn’t do it and went away from Jesus sad. Jesus explained to the disciples how it is is impossible for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God, because a rich man will put his trust in his own riches. To finish the pericope Jesus goes on to explain that we can only be saved through God not by our works or deeds. This pericope really jumps out at me because my family has always been well off and we’ve always went to church and paid our tithes and gave in the offering. Yet, when God called me to give up the wealth that I had accumulated to evangelize overseas I readily accepted this call even though most likely I will never have the same wealth that I have now. This was a easy choice for me because my parents always had me read this particular portion of scripture and learn so I could better understand that no matter what worldly possessions that I acquire they won’t save me only God can. There is considerable evidence that the author we know as Mark wrote the first of the Gospels approximately 70 CE. One of the internal clues to the date of Mark's Gospel is at Mark 13:2, where Jesus was said to prophesy the destruction of the Temple...

Relationship

...Ceddrick Harris Oct. 3, 2014 SPCH 1300/10a.m. (MWF) University of Central Arkansas Adriian Gardner ‘’How Every Good Man Fails’’ How Every Good Man Fails? It all started this summer I was on a quest to find the other half of me, my soul mate some may say. On my quest I did find a person who I thought would be my soul mate but wasn’t. By using Mark Knapp’s stages of getting in and out of a relationship, I’m going to tell you about this summer time heartbreak. But first I must explain that there are ten stages of Mark Knapp’s relationship stages in getting in and out of a relationship. Mark Knapp’s getting into a relationship stages are initiating, experimenting, intensifying, integrating, and bonding (Author Mark, K., pg. 208, Figure7-1). And Mark Knapp’s stages of getting out a relationship are differencing, circumscribing, stagnating, avoiding, and termination (pg. 208, Figure 7-1). First off the girl I fell for was not a girl I would typically fall for because she wasn’t my type. And when we went into the Initiating stage of our relationship as described by Mark Knapp as the stage of starting a relationship (pg. 208, Figure 7-1), I just saw our first encounter as a friendly conversation. I only spoke to her because of the setting of the situation she was in, which was a funny setting dealing with a crazy guy harassing her. The setting took place while I was walking from the park. A friend who was with me and happened to be related to her, he invited her to the...

Exegesis of Mark 10:17-31

...Lexington Bennett Haile 11:00 T/TH Exegesis Paper Exegetical Analysis of Mark 10:17-31 17 As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, ‘Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?’ 18Jesus said to him, ‘Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. 19You know the commandments: “You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not defraud; Honour your father and mother.” ’ 20He said to him, ‘Teacher, I have kept all these since my youth.’ 21Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, ‘You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.’ 22When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions. 23 Then Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, ‘How hard it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!’ 24And the disciples were perplexed at these words. But Jesus said to them again, ‘Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.’ 26They were greatly astounded and said to one another, ‘Then who can be saved?’ 27Jesus looked at them and said, ‘For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible.’ 28 Peter began to say to him, ‘Look, we have left everything and...

Mark Twain

...My Friend, Mark Twain By Owen Pangilinan Dr. Hemington English 001A 21 July 2015 Owen Pangilinan 7/20/15 July 20, 2015 My friend, Mark Twain What are the characteristics of a good friend? A good friend is someone that is giving, not only with physical possessions but with their intellect as well. Someone that will loan you money without expecting to be repaid, let you borrow their clothes, and give you good advice. A true friend is honest and loyal. They will protect your secrets and “tell it like it is.” They will not mislead you because they have your best interests in mind. A real friend is a person who accepts you as you are. They know you are not perfect, because no one is. Flaws, imperfections and fears, are what make friendships such a beautiful thing, and these things are one of the many reasons why they love you. They aren’t expecting you to change and are understanding when you make mistakes. They are also always there for you, through the best and worst times in your life. Your true friends will be there by your side on the most boring of afternoons, and will be the first to come to your aid in the event of a disaster or in times of crisis. Mark Twain is a man that possessed many of the characteristics of a true friend. Through his books, articles, movies and personal friends you can get an insight as to what he was like in real life. Some people might argue you that his sarcasm and tenacity are not the makings of a true friend rather than a trouble...

The Parable Of The Sower

...In Mark 4: 1-9, the parable of the sower, Jesus teaches about a farmer tossing seeds about the ground; while many of the seeds failed to grow into bountiful plants, those that fall on good soil grow and produce a bountiful harvest. This excerpt is a parable because it is a story that illustrates religious principles. The aforementioned story has two parallels appearing in Luke and Matthew. Between the three parallels not much is changed in the format, analogies, word choice, or length. Some phrases are changed depending on various things like dialects or translations, but the overall meaning of the parable remains the same. The Parable of the Sower is addressed to “Whoever has ears to hear”(Mark 4:9). The choice of ears and hearing leads...

...Recto Campus Cagayan De Oro City Name: Arrah-Lou D. Palma Date Submitted: Oct. 24, 2014 Section: Gentleness Teacher: Shareen Baslot 1. Summarize Mark Twain’s significant points In The Damned Human Race, Mark Twain compares the behavior of different animals to human beings to prove in contrary to the Darwinian Theory. Humans actually descended from higher beings. His essay proves a lot of good points. Humans are selfish and wasteful, while animals take only what they need to survive, humans are the only beings in nature that hold grudges and take revenge and that humans are the only beings with morals. I agree and disagree with Mark Twain’s essay. He did live in a different time but cruelty still exists the same. If you analyze the human race or all animals, you can find evil in both creatures. Humans and animals cannot be compared properly. Animals do some awful things to each other as well as human. Mark Twain just lists human’s bad traits. There are a lot of positive traits of humans; he goes into detail of only the negative traits of humans. If there are bad people, there can also be good people. It’s true today, and was also true in the time Mark Twain lived in. In the 1860s, around the time when Mark Twain lived, there was an American Civil War and this is probably why he was so ashamed of human beings. There is something he missed about humans. We have to look outside of all the bad and evil and recognize...

Mark 2:23-28

...“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath” Mark 2:23-28 Jesus and The Synoptic Gospels Dr. Charette 04/08/13 Mark 2:23-28 “One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, ‘Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?’ He answered, ‘Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.’ Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:23-28, NIV). Introduction This paper will focus on the passage stated above, specifically the last statement; “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” The Sabbath is a reoccurring issue between Jesus and the religious rulers. In this paper I plan to research the reason why the Sabbath was created, give an exegetical view on this passage, and show how we can learn from this teaching. The Sabbath The Sabbath was established when God created the Earth. For in Genesis 2:2-3 it says, “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating...

Gospel Of Mark Analysis

...For this journal entry, I read and studied the New Testament book of Mark. The gospel of Mark tells the story of Jesus’ life and ministry. The chapters that I am writing this entry over are chapters 1-5. These chapters are the start of Mark’s gospel and give us the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. These chapters tell about the start of his ministry and his rise to popularity as he travels around to teach and heal people. Context: Historical Context – John Mark was likely writing this gospel while he was in Rome, and it was likely written to an audience of Romans. The most popular date for Mark’s gospel is somewhere between AD 55-60. The book is fast paced and easy to read, which means Mark was most likely wanting it to be read by the general...

Examples Of Leadership In Julius Caesar

...What is a leader? A leader is a person who strives to better themselves and those around them. Good leaders are loyal and stay true to their word. They do what they think is right, no matter the consequences. In Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, Caesar gets assassinated by his so called “friends”, who turned their backs on him. Mark Antony shows many of the qualities that leaders hold in the scene of Caesar’s funeral. Mark Antony was a close friend of Julius Caesar. In the scene of his speech, he proves to be a loyal friend to Caesar. Not only is he confident and noble, but he is also very persuasive and strong minded. When Brutus and the conspirators assassinated Caesar, Antony promised Brutus that he would not speak against the conspirators....

Brutus and Mark Antony wrote speeches to present at the funeral. The funeral speeches were given by Brutus and Mark Antony in similar and different ways and had very different reactions in the end from the crowd. Brutus’ funeral speech was written to inform the crowd the reasons why the Conspiracy killed Caesar. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

...Mark Twain: The conscience of a country. When writing, a person’s inner thoughts come to life. It happens whether they mean it to or not. The author might accidentally choose certain words that bring their own feelings to light, or they could come right out and say how they feel. The point is that every author, no matter how good, will project what they believe onto their writing. Mark Twain does this in The adventures of Huckleberry Finn on numerous occasions. In a time of extreme patriotism and narrow-mindedness Twain made the nation rethink their most basic of beliefs. In a bold move, Twain chronicled his beliefs pertaining to religion, slavery, and civilization. Each time his “profanity saving” pen touched paper he acted as the nation’s conscience. Mark Twain, through the use of wit and satire, challenged the most basic of American beliefs for nearly half a century Religion was a common target of Twain. “What put twain off about religion was its bossiness and it’s alignment with corrupt community values…” (Blount 53). In Huckleberry Finn these beliefs are evident in the character of the Widow Douglas. Though she is a professed Christian she takes no stock in the Christian principles of acceptance and focuses instead on the “bossiness” aspect of Religion. The widow was against practices that she took no part in. It could either be that she thought she always did the right thing or possibly that she determined right and wrong. The former of these two options would make her...

Julius Caesar Rhetorical Devices Essay

...Rhetorical Devices in Julius Caesar “There’s not a nobler man in Rome than Antony” (Shakespeare 3.2.134). This is a great example to represent the huge effect that Mark Antony’s speech had on the citizens of Rome. In Rome, Italy during 44 B.C., all the citizens of Rome were gathered together for the funeral of Julius Caesar after his tragic death. Characters Brutus and Mark Antony both delivered a speech at this event sharing their thoughts and opinions on Julius Caesar before and after his death. There was a very clear distinction to determine who had the most powerful speech. This character was Mark Antony. Shakespeare’s character Mark Antony delivers as very powerful speech after the death of Julius Caesar to sway the beliefs of the Plebeians in the right direction.
