1.1 1. When the company ties employee compensation to the company’s financial results it helps keep their employee turnover rate low because the employees will be motivated to do their jobs better and less people will be losing their jobs. The Mars Company keeps televisions throughout their faculties to show how the company is doing to the employees, which helps keep them driven because they get a good compensation off the great jobs they do for the company. Employees also get good compensation when they are on time and work together, because of this the employees will stay with the company longer and the company will not have to hire any new people, which would cost the company twice an employee’s salary to find and train a new person for the job. With the employee compensation and the company’s financial results tied together the Mars’s work place is a happy and thriving place that keeps its employees around for many generations, which keeps the employee turnover rate at less the five percent.

2. The Mars Company cam leverage its “Best Company” award to attract new employees and customers because it shows they encourage employee advancement and that customers are high priority. Since little is known about the Mars Company the little information they do give goes along way; like the fact that their quality principle is “the consumer is our boss, quality of our work and value of money is our goal” shows a lot about the company in just that small sentence, that they care greatly about the customers opinions and the excellence of work that goes into each product made by them. With just that little information the Mars Company sound like a promising company to work for because a person can take pride in their work, and a great company to get product from because they care about what they are putting out. The “Best Company” award shows that this company is doing all it can to be the best in its field of products.

1.3 1. The four factors of production that New Harvest rely on to make their business a success are capital, natural resources, human resources, and entrepreneurship. The company develops its capital good, finds the best way to get fresh, organic coffee from the United States and mostly Costa Rica and a good local place in Rhode Island to roast it. They then made an alliance with a close coffee shop so local people can get their coffee before it not fresh anymore, and they use social media to boost the awareness of their products. The company uses natural resources like the organic coffee they get from farms in the U.S. and Costa Rica which they depend on for stability. Human resources are another factor that New Harvest needs for success; they have farmers that produce their organically grown coffee, and locally well-trained employees that roast the coffee, and social media putting out any new information about their product out for consumers to view. New Harvest started as an idea and became an entrepreneurship by taking risk and investing making and selling of coffee, then expanding the business by making an alliance with a local coffee shop. 2. New Harvest uses Facebook in different ways to keep up relations with consumers; like updating their page frequently about the company, with posts, reviews, pictures, videos and answering their visitor’s posts bring a personal feeling to the face of the company. Their posts show when they are going to have “public cupping” where consumers can taste and evaluate their products for free; and different places where you can try and buy their coffee. They show pictures and videos of the taste tester’s evaluations of new brews of coffee and videos if their trips to different farms and the roasting sites. When New Harvest answers to visitor’s posts on their page it shows they care about what their customers have to say and shows other people that come to their page what people think about their product. In the same way their customer reviews do the same thing; a customer can rate the company right on the page and leave a comment showing how they feel about the service that was provided.

3. New Harvest benefits from their different alliance with not-for-profit organizations like Rainforest Alliance, New England GreenStart, and Rhode Island PBS because each organization needs New Harvest as much as New Harvest needs them. When the company partners with each not-for-profit organization is shows they are taking care of their social responsibility to the public. Also when the company aligning with Rainforest Alliance helps keep one of New Harvest natural resources thriving because they get their coffee from the rainforest of Costa Rica. The New England GreenStart is a not-for-profit organization that use local renewable resources like wind, solar, and hydropower go into the power grid; New Harvest partnering with this organization shows their effort in going green and making sure local customers can go green too. New Harvest being united with Rhode Island PBS shows their connection with the local community.

4. New Harvests reputation with environmental sustainability affects its relationship with consumers in a great way. The reputation with not-for-profit organizations that go green show they care about the world that everyone lives in and that everything they produce is natural and healthy for the public to enjoy. Each organization helps in a different ways and shows the consumer they care about more than one aspect of the environment; whish gives the consumer a positive outlook on the company and their products. They company’s alliance with Rainforest Alliance and New England GreenStart displays their efforts to keep the rainforest healthy and thriving for years to come with fresh air to breath; and with New England GreenStart they help provide renewable energy resources into the local power grid.
