In this article,” Food as Thought: Resisting the Moralization of Eating” by Mary Maxfield. There are a few things in order to lose weight, go on a diet, being healthy and also eating healthy. We continue to believe what is the right way or by being healthy in the way we view foods that involves eating less and more differently as we should by eating the right way. There are a few key things to understand in order to fulfill our basic needs such as, being able to differentiate between the good and bad cravings our body has, knowing what nutrition facts are showing that certain foods put into our bodies, and most importantly how to read and comprehend nutrition facts and how to live a healthy lifestyle. Fast food has been an ongoing epidemic for years in America. It is one of the leading contributors to obesity in America. This is a big problem for American citizens and should be a main focus to people today. If fast food could be regulated more efficiently, the obesity rates in America could potentially decline. I believe that if people begin to be more aware of the threats of the fast food industry and start taking immediate action into reducing the frequent consumption of unhealthy fast foods, America can be a more healthy country. She explains that there is confusion among American consumers about how to eat. She gives relevant facts and explains that America’s way of dieting is culturally eating less and eating differently. But the key to dieting is not eating at a quantitative amount, but eating at a qualitative standard. I strongly disagree with Maxfield’s formula of trusting our body, ourselves, and meeting our …show more content…
Too much or too little nutrients can cause illnesses and other problems in our bodies. Health is directly connected to diet. What you eat can affect your health by causing a variety of problems if you eat the wrong foods, but can be very beneficial if you eat the right ones. Diet is also directly connected to weight. If you eat too much, or eat the foods in high end fat, in most cases you will become obese. We are naturally preset to crave high sugar foods, since our primary occupation used and gathering food. High sugar food, which is hard to find in nature, supplied us with the energy we needed to survive. Food high in fat helped to keep us warm in the winter and also supplied us with energy. But if we eat what we want to today, when it is not necessary to eat high sugar and high fat foods, we would still crave and eat those foods which would lead to health problems when consumed in large
